Brisbane Lions are finally going to consult members on the jumper

Congratulation guys, people power rules.

I know that feel when your club finally gives you the jumper you want (though didn't have any input into ours and was just lucky our hierarchy were on the same wavelength)

By crikey I hope old Reg Perrin isn't reading this...

OT I don't understand why they can't wear it next year, what a shithouse rule.

I don't think the rule is that heavily enforced, Port changed their home/clash over the offseason a few years ago iirc.

that is one of the great kits, great color combo is red and blue.
"light maroon" officially!

Bring on 2015.

GO LIONS!

The premiership Lion?

Way to snub Fitzroy one last time. That was the Fitzroy Lion well before the "Premiership Lion"

CLub seems to now refer to it as 'the Fitzroy and Premiership Lion', which we're all pretty happy with. I can forgive the tweet given the limited characters per tweet...

I always liked the old Fitzroy guernsey, the darker Maroon with dark blue would be a better look. I hope they get it right this time, i know of long time Fitzroy fans who have jumped ship altogether because of the recent guernsey issues.

Yeah nah. They've been referring to it as the "Fitzroy and Premiership lion" pretty consistently lately.

That's good, I was getting sick of the franchise distancing itself from part of its true heritage.

What about something like this?

It's maroon AND Fitzroy.

They wear something like this for 1 or 2 VIC games a year and it is, without a doubt, the best jumper in the AFL for mine. Love when they break it out.

It's become more than just the "Fitzroy" Lion.

It's the Lion that united Fitzroy and Bears of old, it's the Lion for ALL Brisbane Lions supporters!

I have some questions for Lions people:

Who instigated the change to the paddlepop?

What company was used to design it? How much were they paid?

How much money was spent implementing the paddlepop? (new jumpers, signage, merchandise, etc)

Basically, how much did the whole fiasco cost, and who were the people behind it? And are they still at the club?

The whole thing strikes me as one of the dumbest and most unnecessary processes I've seen a club go through.

There was no uniting. Fitzroy was absorbed by one of the original franchises.

Even this is not correct. The Brisbane Bears rebranded themselves as the Brisbane Lions, while the still existing Fitzroy Football Club lost its licence to compete in the AFL.

Was instigated by former CEO Michael Bowers and the former chairman Tony Kelly. Both are gone.

In all seriousness as a very young kid the Fitzroy strip was a favourite. Unfortunately it was just synonymous with losing badly week in and week out. Watching Drew Morphett on The Winners with my old man, I'd always wonder at his complete indifference to a side that got pumped week in week out in a jumper that looked that cool. I thought it a travesty.

And then.. 2001.. A Lion Odyssey.

So why do the brisbane lions have a nod to fitzroy on the back of their neck? Your argument sounds very port magpies-esque.
