Rather he gets 4 than pleads guilty, biggest load of Bullshit Ive ever seen.
Porps feet are of the ground when HE FALLS from a soft push into Browne, he couldnt lift his arm to protect himself (not Brownes problem) and hit the ground bloody hard. End of story

Probably the best post I've read on BF about this so far.

For all the crying "He hit my boy" and "How soft is this game" the MRP can only adjudicate using the rules in place.

So without any bias in reality we can all agree that

a) The hit was high. - There is just no doubt about this, remember, intention does not come into this.

b) There was high to severe impact - Again bruising of the brain, has to mean a large amount of impact. Again, intention cannot be taken into account.

This just leaves the MRP to decide whether it was intentional, reckless, negligent or accidental.

IMHO, depending on the mood of the MRP and the tribunal it could be called at any of the last three.

But as you can see from points a and b under the current rules Browne just cannot walk scott free.

So be angry at the rules, hardly the MRP's fault.

So by your rationale, if a player A attempts to smother player B's kick and cops a boot to the head, or if player A attempts to tackle player B and dives headlong into his elbow and player A sustains significant head injury, under the current rules player B just cannot walk scott free?

If Browne was lining him up he would have hit him with the left shoulder and protected himself.

Hitting him with the right, if deliberate would be very dumb as you open yourself up to injury.

It was an ACCIDENT.

It is a CONTACT SPORT.

I feel sorry for Porps, but that's not Browne's fault.......if anyone is to blame it is Thornton for pushing him.

Browne definitely laid the shoulder in when he saw Porps coming his way though.

You can argue that he was just protecting himself or whatever, but it didn't look that good.

What should it have been then?

It was definitely negligent and definitely high, only thing that perhaps could've been downgraded was the severe impact.

Let's hope you never end up a Judge (not that we'll have to hope i don't think).

The dude's got brain bruising - how in hell could that be anything other than "sever" on the contact scale ?

The thing people are questioning is the "negligent" adjudication. Accidental/unavoidable seem more likely to me.

Any number of trauma experts would testify that the damage sustained in a head injury is always an accurate indication of the severity of impact.

The same or higher force applied to another part of the head or on a different angle would have seen Porps play in the second half.

Sadly, the AFL don't seem to understand that the outcome (i.e. injury) is often not related to the actions, but more bad luck in terms of forces and angles.

Two seemignly identical incidents can produced markedly different outcomes.

Sure hope so.

Also, lol at those that actually think Browne is a "dirty sniper".

He's a kid just trying to make it at AFL level, he isn't going to deliberately smash someone into the turf to cause harm. Besides, the actual push looked rather soft (from what I saw). The ground however, wasn't.

Browne should get off it's a disgrace he was even charged. There was no intent at all it's like the AFL expect him to be a mind reader and know whats going to happen before it happens.

Great news he was cleared it shouldn't even have gotten this far. I bet the Crows brain dead supporters will be complaining about this now. ;)

let them, justice is sweet and i am just so rapt for Brown, he has had his integrity and fair play questioned by those feral perthetic scum that follow that rabble the cows they should all be ashamed of themselves but they will be to stupid to realise it.

browne Definitely Laid The Shoulder In When He Saw Porps Coming His Way Though.

You Can Argue That He Was Just Protecting Himself Or Whatever, But It Didn't Look That Good.

Well!
