i hope ur right, would love to see riewoldt win it, but i just think given past history, carey completely dominated for so long without figuring, it doesnt bode well for them...but hey tony locket won a brownlow out of the goalsquare so a key forward might be due

I hope a forward wins it this year as well i'm tired of midfielders always winning it!

Re: Your Brownlow tip.

riewoldt pushes up the ground enough they might mistake him for a midfielder

Re: Your Brownlow tip.

Carey always ruined his chances by giving the umps too much "advice"

From my club, Tredrea has to have a reasonable chance

Judd heads a long list of good midfield Brownlow chances

I was talking about all the b.o.g's that Hall, Tredders and saint Nick have had this year and believe me all 3 them have had enough standout games to win charlie this year!
Well, going by the votes in the Herald Sun (converting the 5-4-3 to 3-2-1) they've got Tredrea winning with 25, ahead of Black with 23.

25 W.Tredrea (Port)
23 S.Black (Bris)
21 C.Judd (WCE)
18 J.White (Melb)
17 C.Cornes (Port)
16 P.Hasleby (Frem)
16 N.Lappin (Bris)
16 N.Riewoldt (St K)

might i add who was the player of the year in the herald sun...
Peter Everitt.. just think he might not be bad value.. no1 from the team can steal votes away and has been very consistent all year.. maybe its just me being biased.. but i think he will poll well...

Deserves it, but his best games came when the Saints were going through their bad patch. Unfortunately, Akermanis has had a great year. Even better than when he one it. Think he might do it again. Could his head get any bigger?

KKP have a tough time polling votes in the Brownlow medal, Carey, Dunstall and Ablett have had super years during the 1990's and didn’t even come close to winning it.

Not being loyal to my own but l pick Mark Ricciuto to back it up again if he can get a few votes in the last 6 games, first 12- 15 games could have as many as 24 votes but this is only wishful thinking.

Cameron ling as a dark horse

Akers won't get it, too many players taking votes off him.
Treadrea has got my vote !! (outstanding season).

Judd a smokie..................................

Re: Who will win the Brownlow medal

Here's an original idea for a thread ;)

I've ran throughit all on a game by game basis, being reasonably optimistic about votes for all of the favorites, and it ended up with Reiwoldt, Judd, and Simon Black all in the 22-25 votes range, with Black perhaps slightly off the pace behind the other two. If either of Judd or Reiwoldt don't poll at least 20+ votes it would be astonishing.

Tredrea is a bit harder to tip- by rights he could have anywhere up to 28-30 votes (!), but its just impossible to say whether or not the umpires will recognise a key forward- he could win by a landslide or he could poll nowhere.

Brisbane will have a number of other dark horses who could get across the line with a bit of luck- Lappin and Akka should by rights get around 20 votes as well, with the other guy right up there being Ling.

So yeah at this stage

-Judd/Reiwoldt are the best chances in that they are both effectively guaranteed 20-25 votes.

Tredrea could win by a huge margin or not even poll in the top 10. Black is slightly off the pace but still thereabouts, and frankly it would take some silly voting for any of the next pack - Lappin, Akermanis, Ling, White, Power, and a few others- to get home.

Supporters see the game in a different manner to the umpires and they are the ones who give the votes, we don’t know on any give day if a superstar player have give the umpire a “what for” and this has resulted in him not getting any votes at all, and if it was a senior official he may not give that player any votes for any more games that season, even if he is the BOG. Greg Williams had like 42 touched in 1995 (maybe) last round and didn’t get any votes, l wonder why

What are the odds Scott Mclarin will not give James Hird any votes he has umpired in this season?

Jude Bolton would have to be a shoe in. Can't see anyone getting close to him.

Had the same number the year he won it,Black has since won one.
History shows it makes little difference.

Re: Who will win the Brownlow medal

Definetly Riewoldt I think. I would love to see Juddy get it but he had some quiet patches and we haven't won enough games to secure the votes.
