Prediction Bruce Weber for Port Hall of Fame

With Graham Cornes once again losing his shit like a coprophile with amnesia and some local club yonder Jetty Road hitting the skids or something, I reckon it's about time we gave Bruce Weber his due.

He helmed the club from its lowest ebb in decades, brought back Jack, pulled the trigger on the AFL bid that eventually delivered us from provincial irrelevance to the national stage and oversaw 4 premierships in 7 years.

We all know we were forced to Stalinise his influence and legacy to a ridiculous degree in order to stay in the running for the second sublicence, but free from the putrid clutches of the bumbling SANFL, we have no reason to prolong such a shameful charade.

The least we can do is officially recognise his invaluable contribution by giving our visionary former President posthumous entry into the Port Adelaide Football Club Hall of Fame.

Great call, 100% endorse this thread.

It would be extremely appropriate in this 20th AFL season too.

No doubt the club keeps an eye on the forum, but perhaps this should be sent straight to KT to get the ball rolling?

Old man and my brothers worked with Bruce for years. Even got to meet the great man a couple of times when I was a kid. But I wouldn't stop at the HoF. Aw, hell no! I'd put a big f@%koff bronze statue of King Bruce right outside The Port Club...

P.S. F@%k Leo Schlink, too! That campaigner later plagiarized my 'Tiser cadetship submission article.

Number doesn't work. Sandra is no longer available either
I would suggest Sandra has been shopping at Joyrene for a few years now.

Thumbs up tribey

Remember reading this at the time of his death.. just imagine had he returned, hard to know in what capacity & it would've ruffled feathers again.

"Weber was to have returned from Jakarta this year with both the Power and Magpies seeking to usher him back to their fold. They will not forget him - and always fondly remember him. Others can't."

Can't agree more with this idea. Needs more than HOF though in my opinion. Apologies I have mentioned this sportsman night a few times in recent posts but this was raised by past players seemingly unprompted mid last year. Was a night talking about past GF wins and Wakes grabbed the mic early and expressed the need for BW to be acknowledged by they club if not the State. Not a direct quote but along the lines of their are people with bars, grandstands etc named after them due to AFL coming to town but the visionary who pushed it all is forgotten and ridiculed by these same people.
