How many coaches win flags at their second club, without winning one at their first club?
It feels to me like recycled coaches don't often work out, happy to be corrected though.

Don’t think there’s many that get a second chance. Can only think of two in the last 20 years

is it official that Harvey/Sando will coach to end of year ? like, what's the point ? From reading pies board, a lot
are sick of Harvey/Sando.

In general we are. But the reality of Covid times is that Skipworth is the only other option.

Unless Pendles is going to captain coach.

I imagine that the whole coaching staff will be wiped clean when the next senior coach is chosen. Other than maybe Scott Selwood in his development role.

Should have honoured his deal with North, then his career wouldn't have ended unfulfilled.

We only wanted to be better than Collingwood, which we are.
To be honest, despite this being Collingwood's worst year in two decades, that remains to be seen....

And from memory, Collingwood did cover Carlton quite comfortably earlier in the season, and there is only one game the difference on the ladder.

I’m ambivalent towards Collingwood but quite like Bucks. Have met him a few times at non-football related events and he’s a genuinely nice guy. Dom Sheed misses what he normally would and Bucks is golden. Tough gig. Will be a good addition to the footy media

Would love to see him replace the drunk on 360. Speaks his opinion, strong, would stand up in a coherent way to Gerard, would have a huge insight into the game. It’d be like sending the Datsun to the wreckers and getting a new Jag.

Anyone else think of Buckley leaving the Lions in his 1st year as a player? What a sliding doors moment.

It was such a different time back then though. At the time I understood why he wanted to go to Collingwood. Footy was a graveyard up there, small crowds, no footy culture, the bears had really done sfa in regards to success, there wasn’t a lot of light at the end of the tunnel etc 1993 was so far removed from then to now.

Contenders for the permanent job:

Robert Harvey - if Colliingwood start winning games the second half of the season, he moves into favouritism.
David Teague - would not surprise me if he ended up as Collingwood's coach if Carlton sack him.
Mark Williams - Choco's reputation just grows. Perhaps the most respected assistant coach in the competition and would be a steady hand at the club he captained in the 1980s.
Alastair Clarkson - if he does leave Hawthorn, the infamous Collingwood cheque-book will nab him.

Like everything he does, he left will a lot of decorum, class and empathy towards the club he loves. I'm actually pleased for him that he left without being pushed. He'll end up forging a success media or coaching career elsewhere.

Serious question. Why would Collingwood want Teague?

Buckley proved himself to be a great coach. He was able to build Collingwood back up after the demise of the 2007-2013 squad.

He could coach, certainly. But he pretty much deconstructed the Malthouse-built team of his own volition. And although he went close to a flag, I think his team was a level below Malthouse's.
