A lot of rumours going around that Chicago may make a play for Dwight Howard. Im a Bulls fan and im just not sure whether this is a good idea. I think we certainly have enough assets to make a deal happen. But we are already a top 5 team in the league with a real shot at the title. To get Howard we would be ripping up our entire squad.

You would think any deal would have to include Noah and Deng. Losing Deng hurts so much I dont even wanna think about it. Maybe CJ Watson, Osik and a future first rounder too. Id much rather dump Boozer in the deal and keep Deng but no way would Orlando go for that.

Id be open for any deal that doesnt include Rose obviously and Deng. If we could keep those two and aquire Howard id pull the trigger, despite it being a very risky trade. Sure Howard is by far an away the best big man in the league but we already have a great, deep roster with plenty of chemistry getting it done.

If it did happen and we gut our roster to get him, maybe we fall out of the running this year but with free agents in the summer, coming to play with Rose and Howard is a very attractive prospect.

I want Howard in Chicago but I think it might just cost too much.

Thoughts...

Also any deal for Howard will include Hedo and his hideous contract.

Gee Anderson is a nice little addition there. But I still wouldn't do it. I stand by my reasoning, I'm not doing a deal with Deng in it this season; if we don't win it this season with the team we've got, then yeah maybe you think about making that move.

Still, can't help but do our starting 5 + bench with that trade

C: Howard
PF: Boozer
SF: Turkoglu
SG: Hamilton
PG: Rose

Bench:

C: Asik
PF: Anderson
SF: Korver
SG: Brewer
PG: Watson

Gee its hard not to still like that side. Bench isn't a whole lot different, except for Gibson for Anderson, probably a bit of an upgrade. Just depends whether we're better with Howard and Turk or Deng and Noah. The way Noah is back in form, and with the chemistry we've got, I'd say we're better staying put, at least for this season.

I'm torn because I wouldn't want to lose our depth and give up a player like Deng, but then again I don't think the team as currently constructed can beat Miami with how useless Boozer has become particularly against good teams. If you held a gun to my head I'd say make the deal especially if we get Ryan Anderson as well. That would give Rose a stretch 4 and he becomes even more unstoppable and with Dwight manning the paint you turn Lebron and Wade into jump shooters.

Actually the more I think about it the more I like it, but it would be tough to lose Deng after how much he's improved but it'd be more than worth it.

Really can't stand the thought of Hedo on this team though.

The Bulls cannot beat the Heat with their current squad. Howard may very well be the most valuable player in the game and by far the best defensive player.

And you're not willing to make the trade because you'd lose Deng? Really? Deng? Even taking account of the other pieces the Bulls win that trade easily.

The question the Bulls must ask themselves is do they want to win a champtionship? Or are they content to merely be a contender? The Heat are only going to get better over the next couple of seasons so the Bulls should take this opportunity while it is still available.

I think if I'm Bulls GM and I can get Howard and Rose together for the next decade.... I have to do it.

Figure out the rest of the team later.

That combination is much more preferable than Wade/LeBron.

I think it's all irrelevant anyway because he doesn't want to come to Chicago. If he'd prefer to go to a team like the god awful Nets then I think it says a lot about him anyway and that winning isn't all that important to him. It'd be nice to see but not going to happen.

If you're Chicago, you simply couldn't pass that deal up. Anyone saying Chicago would be giving up too much is underestimating Dwight. Rose + Howard gives them a much better chance at a championship than they currently have.

Bein completely honest, it wouldn't happen.
Rose never passes, Dwight would only be rebounding.

Rose would still be far and away their main scorer, therefor Dwight wouldn't go

D-Rose averages 7.8 assists a game. He might shoot a ton but he's still a passer.

I think the Bulls can get it done with their current squad. I don't see a gaping hole at the 5 which is worth losing Deng for. Wait until the playoffs, I suspect some of those older guys might suddenly improve.

Lets not forget Dwight has had some pretty good lineups around him, his game peaked about 5 years ago and is still peaking now but he's only been thereabouts at going the next step.

Hedo was pretty good in his first Orlando stint. The terrible contract he is on now Orlando should have given him back in the day rather than let him walk.

Rose and Howard would beast the East but seriously, Howard and Boozer frontcourt just won't work well and in that case Boozer's contract becomes a lot more troublesome.

If Chicago pulls the trigger on this one, they have to get rid off Boozer.

Really do not want to lose Deng, nor Rose of course. I think winning the championship this season, as unlikely as it may be, with a fit Rose and Deng is far more realistic than trying to to win it with Rose and a still adapting Howard. Would love to see a Rose/Howard/Deng combo if it could be achieved, but I can't see the Magic wanting our deadwood in Boozer and Noah.

Would love to get rid of Boozer even without getting Dwight so that wouldn't be a problem.

Boozer + Noah + Deng

for

Dwight + Anderson + pick.

Nothing plus nothing for nothing. Absolutely kidding if you think the Bulls will be a better chance to win the championship by gutting their team to get Dwight. Its not as if they need to defend Dwight Howard for gods sake.

Do not want to get rid of Noah even if it's for Dwight Howard. You look at the stats, this season Noah's leading in rebounds per game at 9.5 and that's at least 1 more than the next guy, Carlos Boozer, who happens to also be shooting field goals at .523 and 15.1 ppg. Hardly deadwood there. On the matter of the trade though, absolutely not. With Rose Deng and Noah all fit and firing, Boozer told to stay the F*** away from D and Hamilton getting the most out of his aging body there's no reason we can't challenge as we are.

We can challenge but can we get over the hump. The Miami shaped hump. Id do any trade for Howard if it didnt involve Rose or Deng. But you would think Deng would have to be part of any deal. Rose is obviously off the table.
