With WC winning this weekend, the likelihood of the Dees getting 1 & 2 is gettting bigger and bigger by the day.
Assuming this to be the case, I was always for the Scully at #1 and Butcher #2 combo.
I now am leaning to Trengrove but still have nightmares re Scott Thompson and just wonder about the Go Home factor. To put good years into kids and watch them leave and go back to their home state would be devastating but it's a fact of the national competition.
So, do you take the risk of picking the two hottest properties in U18 and run the risk that one of them will want to leave for home after their contract runs out or pick from your home state and go for the needs basis of another key forward despite a less than perfect championships and have a gun midfielder and a power forward?
Oh the choices... this is the one bit of joy a bottom team gets in a season and this year really is the year of the "Golden Spoon" rather than the wooden spoon as the top two picks will most likely be like gold. The draft is severely compromised with GC taking so many of the picks next year that if you finish last you are going to be at a major disadvantage compared with this year.
I believe we have "troughed" ( opposite of peaked I guess!) at the right time and should take advantage of this final opportunity as I believe the draft rules will change once GC comes in. The PP may be a thing of the past.
There has got to be something to take out of such a crappy year!
