This will probably be out before xbox one's backwards compatibility for BO1 kicks in... useless campaigners.

The delay in BO1 could be the result of a similar issue. Its up to the dev's, not xbox to enable BC. Maybe they want to make some coin out of that too
I think the remaster is them testing the waters for a return to the MW setting. Not necessarily the same characters, but seeing if people want to move away from the futuristic shooters which are flooding the market this gen.

In the PS2/Xbox/GC era it was the WWII shooter that was overplayed
In the 360/PS3 era it was the modern shooter that eventually fatigued
This gen it is the futuristic shooter and I'm close to done with that. Which is why MW: Remastered sounds so appealing to me.
TBH i wouldn't be mad at a next gen WW2 shooter ala World at War

Is it really required to re-release a game to find that out though instead of just having a look at online communities to see what everyone thinks? I'm not even 100% convinced it's to do with the setting of the shooters, and I'm not really trying to argue the point by quoting you, but this is more directed at everyone in general. I can't remember what was on the consoles around the PS2 and stuff as after PS1 I skipped a generation to play PC full time but I do agree that we were swamped with WW2 shooters with Day of Defeat, Medal of Honor, BF1942 etc but I still don't think that is the reason.

MoH: Allied Assault was a smash hit when it came out and was considered one of the greatest shooters to date. Spielberg had a hand in the story (that opening level on Omaha Beach fapfapfap) and gameplay was flawless for its time. Given the success of it, Activision swooped on Zampella and West and they took their team with them to found Infinity Ward and produced CoD which trumped MoH:AA (calling it Call of Duty was to probably link themselves back to Medal of Honor). So much so that EA LA copied much of CoD for MoH: Pacific Assault. IW didn't want to do another WW2 shooter since the market was saturated and instead wanted to make a modern shooter, but Activision made them. That was probably a good thing though because they had a chance to fine tune and further develop aspects from CoD 2 which were an upgrade on CoD 1, especially the movement which is closer to CoD 4 than it ever was to CoD 1. No surprise that this same team could further add the landmark that is CoD 4 to their resume.

Then came MW2. This is what I don't get and starting to wonder if it's pure nostalgia starting to take over some people and nothing to do with the Modern Warfare setting. At the time MW2 was considered a step back and there is the conspiracy that it was sabotaged by Zampella and West in their planned defection to Dice to work on BF3, and Black Ops was supposed to be inferior to the MW series but now Treyarch are apparently carrying the CoD torch.

The way I see it is the Call of Duty series has done nothing but go down the drain since Zampella and West left IW and survives on the name alone. The series was made great IMO not by a setting but a single team. The CoDs of this generation have generally been so awful that not even the name will be able to save it eventually and now they have to cash in on someone else's work.

Just on this, studios would no doubt care more about what the bottom line is in terms of sales, than what some people on the internet are saying.

I completely agree with everything else you said, but BLOPS III was allegedly the highest selling game of 2015 and sold better than Advanced Warfare and Ghosts. We hate this modern shit but people are shelling out more cash than ever to buy these games

To be fair, BO3 was far better than Ghosts and AW, the best COD this gen by far (especially the zombies)

Wasteland in high def. Phwoar

Wasteland was easy to get a nuke on, just sit in the bunker and get a good chunk of kills, then call in a stealth bomber. then go outside to the houses at the back and pick up the rest of the kills needed.

I wonder if they will add game modes like kill confirmed or gun game. i just want to hear the rage in KC when someone has martyrdom.

Digital Foundry has done a comparison video. Original PC Max settings vs the Remaster teaser. Not looking like a half baked remaster, New animations and new engine. so it wont just look like an upgraded version of a 10 year old game.

The new one will be popular with the squeakers, don't worry about that
Exactly how I interpreted your earlier post....

We hate this modern shit but people are shelling out more cash than ever to buy these games
We, being the 21+ gamers, like many on BigFooty with families & mortgages etc...

People, being the squeaker brigade who have the attention span of a goldfish and gravitate towards products that marketing flogs tell them to..

This remaster is essentially a remake? Everything is being made again, new audio, effects and engine. This really should of been a standalone game...

That is extremely unimpressive.

Skyrim modding community have done just as good a job reskinning characters, adding dynamic weather and lighting, changing actual in-game animations (not just cut scenes) and retexturing the environment.

Actually you could argue they have surpassed what IW have done.

Its no frostbite engine but looks like a damn nice upgrade to me.

Animation updates wont just be limited to the cutscenes, lol.

CoD engine is old and what Raven (not IW) have done with a 10 year old game is looking impressive.

Core gameplay is still going to be leagues ahead of Skyrim.... what an odd comparison. Cant play graphics silly PC gamer.
