strongly debating weather or not i get this game.
Is it worth the hype>?
I'm struggling to decide too. I absolutely loved MW2 and was hoping this COD was going to have multiplayer maps that were in some way similar. From what I've been reading on reddit and from the gameplay videos I've watched so far, the maps look horrible.

Every COD I've played since MW2 besides Black Ops 1 has been a major disappointment for me. Blackout is the only thing I've enjoyed since.

TBH I wish they would just give us MW2 remastered and I'd be rapt.

People are saying the game looks great and sounds great, but it's pretty boring.

Might give it a miss at this stage then.. Another year of MWR & Blackout for me!

Apparently the campaign is really good though (only takes 5 hours to beat, but they're going to add more missions in the future) and the unofficial rumor is that Raven Software is working on a battle royale mode for MW. So there might still be something there for you.

The main issues with multiplayer from what I'm hearing is that the maps suck, the spawns are terrible and the game is so sloooooooooow... you have to play so careful and patient or you just die because of the short time to kill. Some of these could be fixed but whether they do get fixed is a different story.

I played 4 prestiges worth of BO4.
No doubt, enjoyed bo4, although i never quite got close to a Blackout Squad win

I would definitely be interested in the battle royale mode, but I have probably only heard the same rumour as you that it is coming January and is free to play?

I do like that the game is slower like earlier CODs were, but the maps i've seen just look like a mish mash of random buildings everywhere. I liked the MW2 maps where there were a mix of buildings and open areas to suit any playstyle.

Anyway, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the game to see if anything ends up appealing to me but at this stage I'm just not sure whether I would really enjoy it at all

I've played a lot of solos and duos on Blackout. It's funny but I've actually never had a win in solos, but in duos I've had 5 wins where my partner has died early and I've had to take on teams of players myself. Never tried quads tho..

Well I'm sick to death of BLOPS 4 multiplayer and I never liked blackout; MWR feels really stale now, so I will probably end up getting MW 2019 but not until they fix some of the existing problems with multiplayer. The COD release for 2020 is Black Ops 5 and I'm hopeful that it might actually be good if they follow infinity ward's lead and enable crossplay, get rid of loot boxes and make the microtransactions cosmetic only.

Haven't played Call of Duty since Advanced Warfare I believe, I couldn't get across all the exo-suits and ridiculous tech crap. I've picked up this game and am enjoying being back in a boots on the ground style Call of Duty.

Only thing at the moment is that the game feels a bit Battlefield like due to some of the map design (size (in larger formats) and verticality/ability to go in alsmot every building/window).

I'm hoping that with map-pack updates (rumoured Terminal Remaster is coming) that these issues may fall away. In the mean time im going to keep playing to ensure i'm across the game if new maps come out.

Positives:

- The gunsmith. Love how many options we'll have this year with weapon customisation.
- How the guns feel to use. Nothing feels clunky. Certainly plays more realistically than previous titles.
- A fresh approach to the tired and outdated prestige system
- A pledge for no MTX this year.
- No battle pass and paid maps and weapons splitting the player base and inhibiting lobby matchmaking
- Crossplay helping PC players like me have an alternative to TDM all year.
- The shear number of weapons at launch.
- Strong divergence from BO4 which was fast paced to the extreme.
- NO SPECIALISTS
- A truly kickarse campaign and the return of spec ops. Cod of old.
- Daily and career challenges to boost XP. At launch.
- Combat record. In game. At launch.

Negatives:

- The divergence from B04 has been overdone and the TTK is so damn quick. Leads to a reluctance to move.
- As such, lot's of these maps just don't work for TDM. No one moves and there's nothing to work towards to encourage that.
- The spawns. Not enough spawn points, and the lack of traditional 3 lane designs give maps no flow for TDM.
- Not enough maps at launch. Only 2 Ground War Maps. Less than 10 maps (not including night variants) for 6v6, 10v10 and 20v20 combined.
- The core maps don't suit certain modes or play sizes but do so for other modes and player counts. Yet they're available for all. You notice the poor compatibility easily.

Observations:

- Gun balancing will be a bitch this year given the devs will have to
be rebalancing the pros and cons of each weapon attachment very carefully.
- Learning maps will take some time as there really isn't a map that's compatible with most or all game modes. last year most of the maps played well across a wide variety of game modes and player sizes.
- Having spent time in K and M lobbies and controller lobbies there doesn't appear to be a noticeable advantage with either mechanic. Seems well balanced.
- Activision appear to have listened to the fan base, and reacted to the popularity of fortnite. Free content post launch. Raven software doing the BR mode so that IW can focus all year on the core modes of MW.

Yeah the maps are kinda shit and make it hard to not camp because everyone else is doing it too. TTK is really ridiculous.

In saying that it's probably the best one in years. Really simple. Looking forward to spending some time on it, hopefully they give us some free maps too.

26 - 0 camping on the bridge

If you start the wrong side with a poor team you are screwed. Very enjoyable for me though.

If they tidy up some spawns and hopefully add some better maps (including for ground war), it will be very good. Gun balance is a bit of a non issue because you get shredded in a millisecond if you make an error. I started getting much better results when I ditched the assault rifles and moved to my usual SMGs. Aside from the burst AR, most of them were quite weak for me.

I'm really struggling with the Quarry ground war map, but I've had better results on the Tavorsk district map.

I’d go as far to say you cannot win a dom game spawning on C flag. A flag side has too many power positions.

Heaps of COD youtube channels hating on this game, saying it's utter shit because it's full of campers and the maps are ****ing horrible. Biggest complaint is that you can hear people coming from a mile away because the footsteps are so loud, which encourages camping.

First COD since WW2, I always skip a couple of years or more with COD, this one seems alright though. I get the frustration with the maps and the sniping, especially that bridge map, can be absolutely stuffed if you’re on the wrong team, may as well quit as you’ll just keep dying.

Dunno if I could recommend this game or not, having just finished the campaign on PC. I am not a huge gamer, and not at all into multiplayer, so take this for what it is worth.

There were parts that were unreal, like the house raid early in the game, but overall it is short and just feels very lacking in depth. Took me a week to play through it, only playing for an hour or so a day. The gameplay, graphics, and the acting in the cut scenes is as good as I have ever seen.

It just feels like when you have something nice to eat, but you are still hungry afterwards. If parting with $80 isn't a massive deal to you, then I would recommend it for single players.
