Call Your "Boys"

The definitive off-season thread. Please don't move it Mods, it is loosely related to the club, hear me out.

Below, you are able to name your "boys", which basically mean that as the season wears on (whether it be AFL, EPL, NFL, LPGA or MLS) you are able to take any credit for their performance or any slack for their lack of form.

Example in case,
Davey_Magik will come on at some point and probably name Colin Sylvia and Dean "Fatter than Frank" Ashton among others. As the season wears on, any poster could, without remorse, refer to Colin as DM's boy Colin Sylvia if they felt like slagging him off when he attempts to shrug his way out of another tackle on QB.

However, if you don't name them below, they aren't and will never by "your boys".

Bearing in mind, you may name a player thats already been mentioned but sloppy seconds are a dirty business.

A few ground rules -

1. A maximum of two Melbourne listed players.
2. Juice is off-limits, as if he would be anybody's boy.
3. No-one can have Jack Watts yet.

Other than that, anything is fair game. General Sport discussion is acceptable, lets kick it through to Draft Day with a bit of well meaning chat.

I'll start because I can.

Paul Johnson - Gun, fix his kicking and he'll give us 25-30 goals a year to go with 10-15 possessions every week in the ruck. AA by 2011. Couple of nice PJ articles floating around at the moment incidentally.

Tim Southee - Saw him in HK a couple of years ago and picked him as a star of the future, turn on your TVs and watch him this week, NZ's next Shane Bond, just a lot better.

Gennaro Gattuso - Word's don't do the little pitbull justice. A god walking amongst mere mortals.

Good idea BC. I think I have a few

Matthew Warnock - I don't wanna hear about his brother, clearly we've got the better Nock. He'll monster forwards for years to come. Mark my words! I'm happy with our emerging defence.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Does he even play anymore? I love/loved him all the same. EVETHOUGH I HATE UNITED DIE DIE DIE!

Frank Lampard - You will never, ever see a bigger mancrush someone will have on a man than I do on Lamps. Everytime he winds up 20 yards out (and occasionally misses) and strikes it home, major pitch tenting in the pants going on there. I'm so glad he's a mainstay at Chelsea despite the insane changes that have happened at the Bridge. I love the boy.

D. Huss - Champion

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - Does he even play anymore?

No, he retired some time last season. Otherwise he would have popped and scored the winner in the Champions League final.:D

Anyway my boys:

Stefan Martin - he will be a gun.

Maurice Jones-Drew - go the Pocket Hercules!! 11 TDs this season and counting.

Carlos Tevez - I like this bloke so much I wear his number, which is also Maurice Jones-Drew's, oh , and Cameron Bruce's.

Ben Hilfenhaus - should be in the Australian team, but him not being there is good for Tasmania.

Brock Mclean - jump on board Brock captain in 09.

Jack Grimes - will be his third pre season in 12 months.

Phil Hughes - super star in the making.

Great idea.

Simon Buckley - Always liked Bucks, at first it was largely because he's one of the only players in our side outside the indigenous boys who could beat a double leg amputee in a foot race. He paid me back this year and i can't wait to see him in a more permanent midfield role next year. He could be our premier midfielder, he's got the pace, confidence and height that Judd has & he's getting the build. Let me dream

Cesc Fabregas - Gun. Enough said

Cameron White - will probably never play another test, but it's good to see a Vic in the national side. Also keeping alive the Merv Hughes legacy of giving hope to those who use the last few notches on their belt.

Damn Oscarman stole my Stef Martin, and watch out BC that hullsd bloke will want his PJ back!

I'm going to buy low and sell high - Brent Moloney and Daniel Bell - 12 months and their stocks will be soaring.

Also I'll claim big Jesse Ryder but as soon as we finish playing the kiwi's I'll disown him.

Fabio and Rafael da Silva aka the "Brazilian Nevilles" should impress this season depending on how much senior game time they get at ManU.

I wanted to pick Buckley as far as MFC was concerned but no sloppy seconds for me thanks so I'll go with Maric.

Jared Rivers - He will probabley do his groin or back or something again. But i still have faith

Brady Quinn - Next Tom Brady

Kevin Durant - I think everybody knows how good this bloke will be

Mitch Thorp - From the Hawks, but i don't give a shit, in a year or two this guy will make Joel Selwood look like a chump

Heres Mine:

Shane Valenti: My favourite demon. Puts his head over the footy and will be a gun. And will have a great year.

Andre Iguodala: Future superstar and going to lead the sixers deep in the playoffs this year.

Micah Richards: Superstar! and Mine!!!

James Frawley, this kid gets no love on here but I'm a big fan, will also take junior as I can't really put a foot wrong there.
From other sports, Chris Rogers pleeeeeeeeease.

Ricky Petterd - will become a superstar next year if he doesnt get injured.

Brent Maloney - hope he can string a few games together and reach his full potential.

for cricket ill take Maxy Klinger- shattered the vics let him go, is having a great season for sa. if big haydos doesnt start making a few runs could end up with the aussies

shotgun my boy dean "gargamel" bailey. Its bald scone to singlehandedly drag us up the ladder.
gargamel1.jpg

Surely you jest, i would have a better chance of making the Australian team then him

Had to get in early all the good MFC players taken. Is this thead supposed to be anything like the much maligned sponsor-a-player thread?

Austin Wonaemirri - the cult player of the year, hopefully his stocks continue to rise in 2009.

Tim Duncan - basically carrying the Spurs now without Manu and TP.

Louis Saha - new lease of life at the Toffees.

Much bigger and better than the Sponsor-A-Player thread.

Saha = Overrated.

I'd say you're right for the most part, but if you have a look i stick up for Frawley a fair bit. If i'd chosen a 2nd player it would've be Chip, i love how he backs himself and he truly won me as a fan when he played on Fev in the 4th quarter this year

Maybe anyone who's already picked 2 should cut it back to 1, so there's plenty of players to go round
