Look who made the AA squad this year lol. Something Rayner could only dream of. He was lucky he wasn't subbed out of the granny. Meanwhile, Fritsch kicks 6 in granny's :)

Fritsch kicked one nice goal and 5 absolutely anyone could kick in the GF.

27yo. Limps to 200 games max. Rayner is 24 and could well be a 300 gamer.

how do you think he gets open all the time? He's a tough match up. And a smart footy player. 6 is 6 goals. And he kicked all but 1 of them in the clutch moments at the start of the game and when we were down in the 3rd quarter. And that my friend is why he made the AA squad and has proven goal kicking numbers over many years. He's savvy and has the goal kicking nous. Glad the AA selectors saw the same :)

So tough a matchup is B "grade" Fritsch that Melbourne have managed 10 goals per game in their last 4 finals, as their forward line worries trap doored them out of both the 2022 & 2023 finals series.

On the other hand, Rayner's forward line managed 49 goals in their last 4 finals, where they came within a kick of winning a flag.

The Fritsch joe the goose model only works for Bayley Fritsch, he needs to be spoon-fed just to keep his humungous head above water. :)

B.Grade that made the AA squad. Doesn't quite add up there :) Fancy analysing Melbourne's total goal tallies and not acknowledging that a) we kicked our way out of both finals and b) the opposition didn't score either....

Rayner's forward line lol. Rayner in finals is developing Gary Rohan like hype now.

Fritsch's last 4 finals 2022-23, 37 goals for, 48 goals against.

Rayner's last 4 finals 2022-23, 50 goals for, 50 goals against.

The opponent's scored almost exactly the same amount of goals. The difference is the Brisbane forward line with Rayner functioned over 30% better than the Melbourne forward line with Bay-Leaf Rich.

Even if it was just Lachie- still one more person than there would be at Pendlebury’s Brownlow reunion.
22 possessions, 2 goals, Brownlow runner up, 30 coaches votes, AA team, B&F winner, goal and mark of the year. + Australian of the Year.
Beautiful, no Norm. No flag , he can join the dwarf and take me home to turtle season man in been a guest at their Brownlow anniversary reunion. 🤣

haha, well played good sir. Very shrewd of you to go from comparing a spud like Rayner to an AA squad member in Fritsch to now comparing the teams lol.

The dees kicked 7.11 in the first final and 9.17 in the next final. Just didn't have the kicking boots on.

If Fritsch played for Brisbane instead of Leon Davis medallist Cam Sprayer then the lions would've won the flag by 3/4 time. A shame Dam Drainer didn't rock up. He should've just stayed in his motel room and watched the game on the telly :)

Alas, why haven't you handed in your stat predictions for Rayner this season?

Everyone knows I am not into stats Danster. ;)

Will dominate.

where have I heard this one before? :) basically every pre-season. But alas, no-one has given me their predictions on his actual stat numbers for the pre-season. no-one willing to put their reputation on the line?

You haven't heard this before outside of his ACL year as he's never been able to spend big minutes on the ball which he did both games.

I'll go: 21 touches, 1.3 goals a game and will lead the AFL in score assists/disposal.

The “this is Rayner’s year” comments are back again?? Can’t wait for next year’s edition
He has potential, glimpses of demonstrated quality and time. Brisbane supporters and one other see nothing but blue sky. A significant number see a partly cloudy day of unpredictable Melbourne weather. A smaller number see dark clouds everywhere.

I am old enough to have seen a lot of Rayners. My best estimate is that around 1 in 20 of them turned from coulda to genuine star. I wish him all the best.

Rayner is a category 5 cyclone. The strongest of cyclones which destroys everything in its path.

Including premiership hopes??

Premiership hopes are akin to the church that miraculously remains unscathed as everything around it is destroyed.

lol yes you are.

I can see what will happen. He'll have 6 touches and you'll say: a) he brought the ball to ground b) he went at 85% disposal efficiency c) he's carrying an injury or most commonly d) highlight one moment in the 2 hours of football where he actually did something.

Nonetheless I was promised a breakout last season, it didn't happen.

lol, why would you of all people be talking rankings? You had Rayner above Fritsch lol and Rayner above Sam Taylor and alongside LDU :) Still hovering around pick 30 in his draft. Then I was told to be patient and wait til the finals where he was good in the first final but then deplorable in the next final and then won the Leon Davis medal in the granny for being WOG.

But I'll wait for your predictions for the upcoming year. :)
There's no need to bring race into this

CAM Rayner has given Brisbane coach Chris Fagan a good selection headache ahead of Opening Round after a standout showing as a pure midfielder against Gold Coast on Thursday night.

danster will be lobbying for the Demons to go all in with a bold bid to trade for Cam during trade period 2024... Bayley Fritsch and pick 1 for Cam will be offered.

I mean, how can Rayner resist the lure of the best club culture in at least 4 decades?

Now being mentored by T Cotchin Esq. @Danster will be extremely nervous. Obviously Lions couldn't get hold of Clayton Oliverstoned to mentor the phenom that is Cameron Rayner. :)
