Yeah, well I wouldn't even disagree with you. It wouldn't surprise me if Rayner had a better 3-5 years than Fritsch now. Fritsch had a poor year, off the back of a poor year by the club, but 41 goals is still elite. But little to no chance that Rayner's career will be able to surpass many of the players in the 2017 because he was useless for 6 years, injury or form or both.

Rayner next season needs to improve on his output. If he's in this juicy role he needs to be scoring 40 goals+. With Daniher retiring, the quality of defender goes up by one. That said I think Lohmann warrants the better defender now so who knows.

Had to watch all the 2024 finals highlights again. Cam was so good. This is a thread about him so all enjoy what this guy does as a player and for his club.

Yeah, the finals in 2022 and 2023 were disappointing. We never really recovered from losing Jackson, and then Brayshaw. But with this whole Petracca and Oliver throwing the club under the bus, I'm readying myself for a rebuild. Believe it or not, Lions are one of my more preferred teams

Thanks Dan. You seem like a good guy and know your footy. We don't have to 100% agree but we got there or close on a lot of points. I agree Cam didn't give a lot early as No. 1 but he was definitely a slow build. I feel that he is getting better by the year and may have about 6 or 7 years left in him. If he can build on this we are in for some good times as Lions supporters. I hope Melbourne get back somewhere near were the were. 2021 they were scary and demolished the Bulldogs.

We had blown a 46 point lead at the start of the year so a seven disposal and a goal third quarter by Rayner was certainly something that was greatly appreciated by our fans. Thanks for backing us in. We were crap in 2017 and we were are here now. Fritta would have been better off with us but he is a different type of footballer and that we need now and I don't know where he would play in our structure. Our game plan relies on hard tackling forwards. Frittas play maybe good for the Dees but hard tackling he is not. How would Fritta fit in with our medium forwards like Charlie, McCarthy Bailey, Cam and Ah Chee and Lohmann. Plus bigger forwards, Daniher, Hipwood and Morris. I agree Dan that Fritta may be the only guy that would get a game in our forward line from your mob. I am working with Dan around this. Hopefully he will get there. The whole club loves Cam . They signed him to a 6 year deal. It is about the club culture and having the right people around at the right time. Personally I would take Cam for the fit with our club at the moment,.#. I think danster168 and I agree on some stuff here.

What does it even mean to be a good culture guy? Good in the locker room? A funny guy? Hard trainer? It's totally immeasurable. And some of the worst players are good for culture so it means nothing. Ben Brown was great for culture...

Right now, if I'm the Brisbane team, I'd want Fritsch over Cam. Both don't find much of the footy, so may as well get the guy who is elite at hitting the scoreboard. Fritsch is also great for culture. The guys love him. He also didn't have his afl career handed to him. He had to shine through the state leagues to get noticed and drafted. He is also a very slim frame but he flies for the ball in the aerial contests. Fritsch is also a more versatile player. He can play up and the ground and find the footy and when played in defence he find the footy and use his lethal left foot. Rayner was trialled there and it failed.
