one real downside to his game is his lack of ability of marking with his hands. often you see him pop it up rather than mark it first attempt. this came about 2009 after his thumb injury - so am disconcerted to see him still not really be able to take marks with the one grab. very frustrating

You don't drop him.

You don't make him watch videos of himself in form.
You play him at CENTRE HALF BACK this week and let him towel up Travis Cloke whilst Schoey plays up forward.

That way he gets more of a run up the ground, whilst not being the 'go-to' player, more touches in traffic and gets to think about using the ball from half back and think about where he would like the leading forward to go.

Hopefully he will then realise the guys coming off half back prefer someone to be leading towards them than trying to convice them to kick it 70m back over his own head.

Forward 6 would be:

Brown Schoenmakers Morton
Rioli Roughead Osborne

So you want him giving away frees in the backline? The way he gets punished by the umpires, and the way he himself applies tackles, means Cloke would be having a shot for goal every time the ball went forward.

If we lose by a goal, Cloke's 1.9 could prove costly.;)

One more performance like the one today, and then I think you've got to drop him.

Just for one game, to show that it doesn't matter who you are, you have to perform, it may then give him a wake up call, that his not just a walk up starter.

Love Buddy but he needs a major wake up call.

May just be the change in perspective he needs to adjust his approach to contests. ;)

History is littered with KPPs who improved as forwards after having a run as a key defender. I daresay playing Roughy in defence a few times has improved his forward play (though not necessarily his goal-kicking).

I'm just annoyed that Buddy seems to attack a contest, and the moment he feels contact he loses focus for the footy and worries about throwing his arms around trying to get free kicks. Also playing in defence will probably help him realise that there are plenty of other players in brown and gold jumpers in better positions than himself to whom he can handpass the footy if he chooses, rather than trying to take 3 blokes on and be a hero.

Being part of a string of handballs coming out of defence can teach one the value of team play quite quickly in my view.

Our forward line hasn't worked as well since Barker came on board.

SPOT ON. Buddy loves kicking goals..he is not the RICHO 08-09 which it appears the coaches want him to be...you cannot win matches if you cant kick goals.

Reckons other coaches are laughing their heads off how we are playing buddy

The majority of you people have zero clues.......

I suppose you all enjoyed the opportunity to bath in Premiership glory? Buddy supplied a lot of that, yet here we are 3 games in (2 in which he has played and you give him shit)

Cue - Midnights Oil: Short Memory
