Apologies for intruding - most know me for my phantom drafts but I also take an interest in list management. Two names worth targetting.

Brock McLean + Shaun Hampson

Throw in your 1st + 2nd rounder as well as a Mitch Morton and you can get a serious ball winner who adds leadership + stability to a young midfield and a ruckman who can play now and develop with the list.

Do this and I think you're a top 8 club. Still a long way to go. But good pieces to build around and would go a long way toward winning.

knight love your work but this is the most rediculous thing ive heard. brock is a spud not upto afl these days. you may throw up ball but he may not be fast but he gets to every contest not like bm and we arent the pies! i cant understand why we would waste a early draft picks when thats what the blues did and have been laughed at. spuds at one club are for a reason, if he was any good he would be in the middle at carlton. no no no no no no!!!!!!!!!

Griff is very athletic, clean below his knees. Never said he was going to be as good as Richo but a 199cm wingman will be difficult to match up on. Lightning quick the big fella. Would also mean he doesn't get his shoulders hacked all game.

And seriously i dont understand majority of what u post. Why are we losers for not chasing a guy who is a worse kick of a footy than many under 12 kids?

No-one thought about a big wingman until Richo!! Now any bid guy who is athletic can play wing Fact is Richo was a freak, and to suggest Griff could play wing is absurd in my mind. Even Richo was not the most agile but his contestable marking was unmatched. Griff simply does not have this from what I have seen. Do you know something I don't??

Griff has not proved any thing and has shown glimpses of a quality player that will add depth...

Griff will never be the next richo and no one will.

Don't recall saying he would be the next richo. I said he could play the same role. Avoid getting his shoulders smashed every week. Reality is he will play CHF. just a suggestion. We already have 2 gun KPF. The 3rd only needs to be serviceable. Butcher costs at least a 1st and a BIG sweetener. We need to use that pick on midfield depth and talent. Trade 2nd for a ruck. Pick up a crumber late pick.

Butcher will be way too expensive for us. And yes his kicking is that bad. They tend to float through. A few times has barely made the distance from 25m.

We need a CHB and Ruck as a priority, or we are going nowhere. Butcher will be pursued by the Blues and the Dogs. Now, the dogs are paying 100% of the cap, so they're screwed, but i have a sneaky suspicion the blues aren't. Our forward KP's aren't the issue, it's the lack of quality crumbers that hurt us. Butcher (if the hype is true), is ideal for Carlton, and they have a very good history of getting what they want, we don't. So it's not fools gold. They have an elite midfield. They also lack a FB, and CHF (assuming Waite and Walker keep playing their roles as FF and 3rd tall). Butcher would help them very nicely. So in short, your assessment is incorrect.

Welcome to the club. I struggle with the magician too. If Griff develops his aerobic capacity, why not give him a run on the wing? Doesn't mean it will work but so what?

I think we tried to pull Judd at one stage.. I'm most Likely incorrect
I think there is more to the list.

And the players we do pull
Grigg (average at best)
Houli ( has shown real potential)
Miller ( needed?)
Farmer (good last year)
Ben cousins (he had no other choice)

Simply put buddy, few "big name" players switch clubs.
Judd is a big name ... Trengrove, Knights and especially Sherman are not!

Even if it was, who said it should be spent on a single 'big fish'? It's been a fairly regular comment recently that we lack depth , so maybe getting half a dozen 'good' players on 250-300k/yr would have a bigger effect than a single player getting double or triple that.
