Clarkson's second season as coach. Dawson would have been full back and probably Jacobs ostensibly as CHB. It was in those stretch of games that Franklin was playing at Box Hill, and Roughead kicked a goal from 12 disposals.

Funnily enough, in that game Hawthorn had 12 players who would go on and win the flag two years later (Bateman, Birchall, Brown, Campbell, Crawford, Guerra, Hodge, Ladson, Mitchell, Roughead, Sewell and Williams). Of course, Birchall, Hodge, Mitchell and Roughead have won four premierships each and Sewell is a two-time premiership player.

Just goes to show that sometimes, success is right around the corner and the night is always darkest before the dawn.
