Can't believe know one wants Brown ,

Without wanting to be the grammar police...but seriously, I had to read the thread title 3 times and have a hard think to work out want exactly you meant. But a few beers under the belt....I make a mess of things too;)

We all want him if the price is right. But does this not all sound like another Brisbane player saga last year and the man got his money? Either way, next year is the year to go for a gun and give up all the picks. Hopefully we will get top 8 and we can secure an out of contract gun, 'similar??' to Brown, and make our run the following year with the existing youth hitting their early to mid 20's. In fact, why not offload someone this year and try and get another pick ourselves is where I would be heading. My man Schulz...would Port still be happy to part with their 2nd round for him?

Yes, he did that in the past.

We want players capable of doing that in the future.

i reckon he is too big a risk at the price he's asking

best is behind him -

i'd rather we boosted our midfield. i reckon we're 3 or 4 players short of being a top midfield.
cuz, kerr and didak is who we should be after.
imagine them 3 together

Cleve and our first and third pick for Brown and their second rounder if we are lucky.
Throw another player from the usual suspects their way if it helps.

If he says he wants out they have to accept a deal of some kind and ours will be an earlier first rounder than Collingwood.
You mean if Brisbane has a brain melt and forgets how to trade.

He can walk for nothing if they don't trade.

If they are getting a first rounder and a decent player from Richmond and he has selected us as his preferred club then they would not want to risk him walking for nothing surely.

This gives them the player we have traded to them, 2 first round picks, a second round pick and a third round pick, Thats 5 kids into the club.

How many young players do you think they will want to draft in?

That trade is achievable if Brown selects us as his club of choice.

I think we would only have to make a better offer to Brisbane than the Bombers and hold our nerve through trade week.

Freo, Melbourne and West Coast will keep their picks and he doesn't want to go there. Port might try him but again he doesn't want to go there.

They wont let him walk over to Melbourne in the Pre season draft for nothing.

Don't see why he would walk for nothing. Your trade suggestion is just ridiculous. Hughes is a hack. Brown is worth 2 top 20 picks + a good player.

If he puts a price on his head and is prepared to go to Melbourne via the draft he can walk.
This leaves the ball in Brisbane's court. They either accept the deal from a club he says he will go to or allow him to walk out for nothing and into the pre season draft.

Brisbane will deal if brown plays hard ball.

I used Hughes as he would fill a forward slot. Could be Reiwoldt,Schulz or Hughes and a first round pick. Or some combination.

Like I said earlier, I think we just need to put a better offer up than the Bombers and Collingwood and we will be a good chance of getting him if he really wants to leave.

I'd have him tomorrow.

Wether you like it or not, he is strong agressive and a straight kick. Everythinng we need.

2009 forward line up could be:

N Brown, J Brown, Reilwolt
Delidio, Richo, Morton

Blend of youth and experience...

I think we can safely say that he won't walk into the PSD. He has more class than that. Trading Riewoldt would defeat the purpose. Basically your trade suggestions are bogus and your reasons for getting him are just as bogus.

**** brown.

Big spoilt brat without a real ticker.

Not worth two mushy turds

Defeat the purpose? The purpose is to build a better team. Brown is leagues ahead of Reiwoldt in any measurement you might want to run with. Again Reiwoldt is just one of a few I would have on the trade table.

If we can get Brown we should. End of story. 4 years on big dollars with an option for the fifth if he hits certain targets would be reasonable.

Build a better team for next year or for a sustained period of time? You seem preoccupied with short term goals.

I agree chasing Brown seems a bit short-term however, we need to plan for the loss of 6 vets (Richo, Brown, Sugar, Simmo, Tiv and Bowden) all before start of 2011 and this draft is last chance for a while to fine-tune our list. Not sure Brown is the answer but I'd look at Didak. We will need around 5 solid 27-30yos come 2011 otherwise we'll lack that essential level of leadership to support the talented but mentally and physically soft core of young talent we have assembled past 4 years. At this stage I see just McMo, Newman, Cogs and Tuck as chances to be part of that group.

I agree with you.

Although I am not a fan of Didak coming to Richmond.

We have a huge hole in our list when it comes to that middle age bracket that can step up and lead. Thats why I think we should be after Kerr as well.
