Carlton in no man's land

I don't think Carlton will be tanking. Tanking can only really occur if the senior coach deliberately plays players out of position or start sending players with slight niggles off for the season. The players on the field will always try to win.

Voss wants wins, not losses. He is well aware how the AFL and Carlton operate. Despite the "reassurance" given by Sayers he knows that the landscape can quickly change if the losses keep piling up. That with each loss there will be greater demand from supporters and pressure to remove him.

With wins it will alleviate the pressure as the late wins even if finals are out of reach will give the Carlton supporters hope for a better year next year.

You accused Hawthorn of tanking. I'm not sure if you can work out if being a Hawthorn supporter is more hurtful than being a Carlton supporter.

But your really didn't answer the question. Are Carlton tanking?

Hawks realised they were no shot at Reid with WCE as bad as they are, so turned the tank off. Against Sammy’s wishes.

Carlton not tanking. Just genuinely bad. It would make more sense if we were.

No. You were adamant Hawthorn needed to be sanctioned by the AFL for tanking. You basically said it was ridiculous what Hawthorn were doing. Will be interesting in two weeks when Hawks play Carlton. You might struggle in the midfield.

Tanking for 8 weeks of the season should still receive sanctions. Hawks are not the proud club they once were unfortunately.

definitely.

A loss to the suns on Sunday will have the peeps wanting blood - then the bye (prolonged pain) then a loss to the rising Hawks will definitely be worthy of an old fashioned Carltank.
Ha ha look at the name of the thread you're in, you can't have it both ways my friend.

Oh. So you are tanking. At Hawthorn we would like to win as many games as possible.
hawthorn's form at the start of the season has been far different than the past couple of weeks

Hawthorn playing better than Carlton at the moment, wouldn't be a shock if Hawthorn won.

Way to many battlers on the Blues list.

Dow, O’Brien, Williams, Fogarty, McGovern, Plowman, Martin, Fisher, Cunningham, Ed Curnow, Boyd, Owies, Honey

Carlton's better off keeping Voss if they want high draft picks.

Pretty clear Carleton have fired their best shots in the first month and returned to their norm, that is not tanking but rather a return to the same inability to win games.

Until they cull the list and get quality players they are going to continue to be ineffective and highly unlikely to be a meaningfully involved in an AFL season

Martin, McGovern and Williams have all been expensive investments with minimal return and have actually damaged the clubs ability to become more than a 9th best team.

They need to be a lot more productive with their recruitment and player development over the next 2-3 years to have any chance of winning a premiership in the next 5 to 8 years.

Voss really needs to get back up to the coaches box. He’s not doing his players any good on the boundary. He looked far too stressed and panicky against us and even argued with some players a few weeks ago.

I think tactics / system is not his strong suit at all. Been a relief at Essendon finally getting a coach who knows what he’s doing
