Actually StKilda had Ballarat which pardon the pun was a goldmine of talent.
They didn't know what to do with it because thier club is steeped in failure.
Hawthorn got a pretty good area & I would assume Collingwood got a good area seeing the calibre of players you got.
It is just that your club turned a great recruiting zone and talented players into a bunch of gutless chokers who lost 7 flags and won NONE

yeah the saints got ballarat - give it to ANYONE ELSE and they win flags too, but ken luke ensured ballarat was useless by allocating to the saints. every other club was allocated regions full of small insignificant country towns full of farmers sons and whose value on the farm was of greater importance than a few quid from footy. bendigo on the other hand was a mini melbourne, full of kids able to walk away from menial desk jobs and into vfl life.

there is no denying that **** ken luke used his position to help carlton with the best recruiting zone around.

As you would well know, it's the ones your team should have won which hurt the most (1984, 2012 etc.).

When you find out years later that your team were not competing on a level playing field, it qualifies as one of those games.
