Carlton's next win - will it even happen?

carlton are coming on quicker than many thought. and its scarying a lot of middle of the road clubs like Richmond, Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Collingwood, Adelaide, West Coast, Western Bulldogs, Sydney etc.

The Blues will leap frog these clubs in the next year or so.

No doubt they'll struggle to overcome these injuries in 2004, and will finish lower than their ability reflects. The result, higher draft picks in 2004 and greater strength to rebuild.

According to some, you're already a lock to beat Geelong.

Will end up with 9 wins i think.

Sides missing their 2 key forwards are capable of winning games, just ask Adelaide.

There are key forwards, then there are key forwards.

We never were a finals chance

Just look at who we've beaten

We were lucky to beat Adelaide.......if they'd kicked straight we woulda lost by 8 goals

Hawthorn are crap, so are Richmond

Will Carlton win another game this year? We have some winniable games coming up... well, they were winniable!
They could not win another game and my money on them for the spoon would still be shot, bloody Hawks and Crows

So Neitz might kick 10 goals in the next two games and lead Fevola on the goal kicking table - and now, due to how you rate the goal kicking table so highly, am I right in saying Neitz would now be having the better season??

 Your view is FLAWED!

Eh? When did Neitz get some time off? Of course you can't say Neitz is better if Fevola is suspended... did you even think before you posted that?

I laugh at you, pour soul.

like ur optimism :p

hopefully ur right!!!

i think our next win could come against the roos ... whitnall while he's been getting into some form is replaceable, fevola is not. i think at optus we have played pretty well, fev will be fired up after his suspension to make up for lost time. i would expect a bag.

i would have said sydney, but with both fev and whitnall out im not sure who'll kick our goals?? lappin, kouta maybe???

whats the point of this post mate????

seriously!!!

whitnall is replaceable imo, maybe some1 else will stand up who knows. maybe o'hailpin will become our next chf!!!

fevola's only out for 2 weeks ... we weren't gonna beat port, so where only missing out on one winnable game. who knows barry hall might get injured sat night and swing it back in our favour.

ur negative attitude helps no one mate .... read my post on the carlton board. try and look at this as a positive. i know its hard. but some positives can come out of negative situations.

How is it flawed?

If he kicks two bags of ten he'll be considered as having a better season because he has kicked more goals than him overall. Simple logic - a FF kicks goals. He doesn't need to do anything else... how good a FF is in a particular year is rated on how many goals he has kicked in that year. Throughout history, the FF that has kicked the most goals was generally views as the best. Look at all the past Coleman winners and don't tell me that they were not the best full-forwards of those particular years.

Any forward who has time out will fall behind the pack. Say if Lloyd gets injuried when he is on 80 goals with one game to go, and Gehrig is on 79. Gehrig overtakes Lloyd in respect to having a better year - same if Lloyd was out due to injury. Missing a chunk and falling behind while the other forward does not and in turn gets to end up with the Coleman instead of the injuried or suspended one who was close - who had the better year?

But I doubt that Neitz will kick two bags of ten in a row - very rare even for the best FFs to do so nowadays. And besides, you're off-topic. Don't drag your thoughts from the Fevola vs Neitz thread - I thought you proclaimed to the world that you didn't care? More BS from you.

No, no no... I want the opposition supporters' point of few. That doesn't mean I have the same view as them... we will win a few more games even without Whitnall. But I'm a realist - look at all our wins and look at Fevola's performaces in them. We can beat Sydney if all the players play well but it will be harder without our best two forwards, considering the teams we will face in the coming month are much better than the teams we won against.

Don't worry mate, after the Port game we can realistically loo at some wins because we CAN cover Whitnall. And Fevola will be back... so please don't say I'm always negative! I'm just not blindly optimistic as I am looking at it objectively... while getting the opinion from other opposition supporters since it's always good to discuss such things on a messageboard.

It just seems like an odd thread thats all ...

I mean ppl love bagging carlton which is fine, i dont have a problem with that. but this sort of sparks them to say ... we wont win another game this year, we're a crap side with a good coach etc etc etc.

I mean im not a blind optimist .. but .... if we can get our midfield to fire, defence to stand up and someone (not sure who?) to stand up and kick a bag of goals we can still beat the swans.

Im sure ur a pretty cluey bloke ... so why not add more to our blue board? im starting to think no one bothers to post on it. i always ask questions like, what should our fwd structure be without whitnall and fev etc etc etc and never get any replies. ur an administator aren't u?? shouldn't u be adding to our board as well as the main one??

Cheers

Well, I add what I can, with what time I have that is. I used to post plenty, but these days I haven't had the time. There are other posters that have more time than me so they mostly answer your questions. I don't see how my input is anymore valid than the other Blues' supporters on BigFooty that post on the board.

I'm a mod for the board, yes. Remember that there are two quaility Carlton boards on the net (TVB and CSC) where most of the Carlton folk generally hang out which is why our board doesn't get as much traffic as say the West Coast board who don't really have any other large unofficial board.

We are all talking like Fevola is out for the whole year!

Geez, he is only out for 2 weeks!

He will come back, better than ever, and we will win every match when he comes back and scrape into the finals...

Well maybe not the finals, but we will still go ok.

Perhaps you should use your mod powers for good rather than evil, and move this thread to the Carlton board where it belongs.

Can you read?

1. I wanted the opinions of other opposition supporters.

2. I'm a mod for the Carlton board (in case if you haven't figured it out yet Fred is responsible for this board and the actions that affect it, not me).
