She was kind of the love of my life (but not in a sick way). I mean that she outlasted my marriage. She was constant, reliable and earnest love and affection.
So, here’s to her.

It’s funny walking in the house and without fail I’m greeted to the meow and pur’s from my cat, it won’t react to anyone else coming home just me and considering it’s not for food I have to take that as some sort of compliment haha

They have favourites and are massive arseholes - my cat loves my wife who used to hate cats and hates me, who has always loved cats.

My cat is only an arseh*le to my family cat, it has no issues with other people it just likes me the best.

my cat , the ultimate creature of habit - his routine does not change one iota - its precisely the same to the second..day in, day out.

Marlo - a day in he life.

6.30 AM - I rise, in the dark, step out into the lounge room, waiting Marlo is camped behind the couch ready to attack, I know he will, he knows he will.. but im still not ready in my half sleep as he lunges at my all legs then bounces back just as quick as I nearly step on him.

6.35 - Marlo encircles my legs in and out in a figure 8 pattern as I try to get dressed in the dark, heavy purring, meowing til i put food in the bowl

6.40 - Marlo crunches til Im about to leave.

7am - Marlo enters my room and finds a particular deep crevice in the bunched up doona on the bottom left of the bed, balls up and sleeps.

4.30pm - I return, Marlo is in the exact same spot and position - I have a hunch he was turned into standby mode like when nobody needed 3PO

4.31pm - I pick up Marlo like a ragdoll (hes a ragdoll) and turf him outside, and say get out and do what you gotta do! I don't want you waking me up all night wanting to go out.. get it out of your system now. He arches his back, turns to give me the stink eye, sharpens his claws on the wooden rail, then saunters off.

8pm - I open the front door to let Marlo in, I hear the bells tinkle off - he's not going to make this easy, I see him behind the tree, he knows I see him, but I go anyway, its the game. His back legs wiggle, hes crouched - I step past the tree, sppprrring, pounce - got ya.. ok very good Marlo, you win again, now, inside.

8.01 - Marlo refuses

8.02 -I drop food in the bowl

8.03 - Marlo is inside crunching and the door is secured.

8.10 thru 9pm - i'm on the couch doing misc activity, Marlo is wedged up against my thigh, purring.

9pm - I go to bed, Marlo jumps on the bed and does fifteen circles before sitting next to my pillow, the exact same spot every night. We have learnt to leave that spot open.

10pm - Marlo wakes, meows for 10 mines wanting to be let out. I refuse and swear

10.10pm - Marlo scratches at the bottom of the mattress pulling himself along, repeatedly til I swear and push him away.

10.10 thru midnight - Marlo batts a tennis ball around the lounge room, rolling over it, tossing it in the air, doing the back leg attack hoping itll wake me

Midnight - Marlo stands at the back door meowing frantically

00.05 - Marlo final gives in and I hear rustling in the litter box.

00.06 - I smile in my half sleep, another victory to moon.

00.10 after flinging litter all over the bathroom, Marlo dejectedly walks back into the bedroom a loser and I hear his feet defly land on the mattress - I don't think he wants me to know hes there.

00.15 thru 6am - Marlo purrs loudly while spooning in my back, asleep

6.00 - Marlo rises, and eats the remnance of food in his bowl then finds his position behind the coach ready to pounce.

6.30, my alarm goes off, I rise, in the dark, step out into the lounge room, waiting Marlo is camped behind the couch ready to attack, I know he will, he knows he will.. but im still not ready as he lunges at my all legs then bounces back just as quick.

I reckon its understated how much cats actually know..

I mean when you are down, or upset - almost like clock work the cat will come and give you a quick head butt or roll around you shins for a cuddle, I think they want you to know they know and care, as aloof as they can be in other times they come when you need them

years ago, we had a boy cat, had had him for about 5 years - not once did he ever bring a dead mouse or a bird in the house - nothing...

Then one time, partner was pregnant , and I went overseas to South Africa for a pre planned trip - she was a little upset, not with me but just overwhelmed with a few things - anyhow the second night I was away cat brings in a dead bird.

I'm totally sure he was pretty much saying to her, look i'm the man of the house now, ill look after you while he's away. Look, this is how good i can do it, i took out a risk just now...I'm sure of it!

does he know how to boo the umpire? ;)

bet he loves that fire spot, lucky cat!
He doesnt boo at the umps but he’s got the hissing down pat!
We have 4 rescue cats at the moment, but Wilbur is by far the biggest character we’ve ever had, an absolute gem of a cat that has given me many many laughs and many many grey hairs!

when I was single - we had a similar looking black cat called daisy, she loved me.. every night she spent on my bed.

I finally got a girlfriend, and the first time she stayed over my place Daisy got all upset, jumped in between us in the bed and was pushing her away with her outstretched paws - too funny.

hes mine girlfriend!

Black cats are the best personalities and often over looked for adoption because of stupid superstitions.

Sorry to intrude but this is the best thread on Bigfooty :'(

This is my Wilbur

I have sooooooooo many cat stories I could double my post count in here.

That’s fantastic.
My sister has had heaps of cats over the years. They have all been lunatics except for one black one (called Blacky). She was the nicest one by far.

Sometimes when i get home from work ill start to walk down the hall and my cat comes running up, stops about a metre in front of me and then starts rolling on the floor and meowing affectionately for about 5 seconds. Its rather odd but adorable at the same time, she then follows me around for a good 15 minutes before looking to annoy the family cat.
