Dead 5

There’s a term I haven’t heard for a while , you’re obviously the same era as us diehards .. tab ticket on a square cardboard ticket that doesn’t bend
When cleaning out my old man's belongings after he passed last year, I must have found a thousand of those tickets lol. That plus about 10 different instances of letters where he formally complained to phonetab that they'd stuffed his bets up (including one where they actually admitted their fault).. oh they were different days!

I am not a good punter and lose allot more often than I win, so my opinion counts for very little, but I am struggling to see the appeal of SS, apart from the fact he has run behind JB.

Epsom his SP was $51 and ran 7.5L behind the winner.
Goodwood he ran 3rd to JB but it was a 4 horse field. Finished around 3-4L behind JB but was quite soft on the line.

He will probably come out and smash them now :)

7.5 lengths behind the best horse in Europe. Los Angeles was 6 lengths off him in that race and just ran 3rd in the Arc. Deira Mile also 7.5 lengths off and ran close up in the Leger.

Run in the Gordon Stakes was ok without being anything great. Only dropped off late but the first 2 are good horses.

Fair enough the margins but he has come through strong form races in Europe running fairly and now gets in on the minimum in a dog shit Caulfield Cup

Wow I didn't realise how strong some of that form was. They are good points. Good luck & I think ill be throwing him into my trifecta

Prefer to draw a little wider than on the inside come Saturday.
Plenty of speed in the race … built for stronger stayers. With some juice in the track think DDS/Eliyass best of the on pacers.
Zardozi and Coco Sun of those coming from behind.
Barrier a concern for SS. But very well weighted. Only query on Buckaroo is the distance. Form is first rate.

Oh well there goes my multis with Eliyass drawing the outside gone from my top pick to very little chance.

If you are going forward no matter what I don't think the gate is a big issue when you have no weight like that. If it was a Waller horse you would be worried that they snag it to last but Gai you would have to be reasonably confident she would still go forward on it. If you like it you just get a better price :)

Is Valiant King completely gone at the game? SP’d $10 in last year’s edition and you could make a case that there’s no Without A Fight / West Wind Blows type this year. Finished 6th, with every chance at the top of the straight but took a while to build and missed it’s opportunity, eventually getting bumped and held up behind a wall of horses.

Is a year older, only carrying 0.5kg more and would appreciate the rain that’s meant to arrive. Waller might have been building just for this day.

Currently $81/$19

Looks completely Waller'd

It has to be a concern that he had the more economical trip in the Turnbull and got done by Via Sistina who was 3 wide, raises concerns about how strong he will be at the end of the 2400.

Terrible take.
She's $5 equal favourite in a cox plate and beat him by a nostril?
They were pulling away from everything else in the field.
Now he carries 54.5kg in a handicap.

The Caulfield Cup is over 2400 metres. I am just stating it has to be a legitimate query, he's hardly a put in and take out job, as you suggested. There are horses with stronger CV's in this race who have a lighter weight. Personally I'd rather back them before I declare Buckaroo across the line.

54.5 is usually a big plus but when you also take into consideration the top weight has 55, it's not that big of an advantage. There are no horses in this race giving 3-4 kilo away, at least not to Buckaroo.

Which horses have better CV's.
Anything that hasn't happened in the last 12 months is irrelevant.

At this stage, If proper dry - Deny Knowledge, Young Werther, Buckaroo
If proper wet- Warmonger, Zardozi, Buckaroo
If proper hard run tempo then Warp Speed comes into it.
If not wet, dry and slowly run then 🤷‍♂️

The 2 that knuckled it out in the Metrop.

The European form around SS.

I just see the distance being a huge query about Buckaroo, he ran a respectable race in the Tancred (which was his only go over 2400) and then they put him into a 2000m race the next start. It is a genuine query, it has to be.

Could be a rare mares year. I like Zardozi a lot , Positivity a great roughie. Land Legend Gate 1 Caulfield first time is a killer blow for his winning chances but heading towards the MC he'll be the one to take out of it.
