Yeh...made out to be some huge dramatic thing, yet always turns out to be nothing - i.e. the surfies losing their passports....nothing. Various teams getting pulled over by police....nothing. Someone not being able to finish the leg.....nothing. The previews are overhyped. But at least the show is entertaining. Id prefer them not to show any preview if theyre going to hype something out of nothing up to be what its not.

Agree. Australia is just terrible at this - at least the American shows don't go to those lengths. If you aren't watching now, the promo isn't going to drag you in.

Having a go at Dave because of his whinging is pretty poor.
I don't think we know how bad he is hurt. he had the calf problem at the start of the race, he is constantly falling on his hip and that could be buggered.

Lets remember he did 3/4 of the log saw and that was a pretty big effort.
I just don't watch the promo, would rather be surprised on the night as to what will happen.

I thought this episode was poorly designed.
Having to saw four pieces off a log like that was just a ridiculous task. Someone was always going to have trouble.
And the two hour / four hour penalty smacked of making things up on the spot.

He is in his early to mid 20's and juiced up on roids, not in his 50's like Dave.
I dont see what was the problem with all these comments about 2 hour penalty. I know it was a team task but the girls did cut through their log and were playing by the rules waiting for Chris and Anastasia to finish their first cut. Obviously things were not going well as it appears they cut half a log in about an hour then called it quits. What more can the girls do? Chris and Anastasia wasted too much time and given it was meant to be a team task, I don't think they were allowed the cut 3 more slices by themselves after Chris and Anastasia quit. So I think the reduction of time penalty was more than fair. And in the end the correct couple got eliminated.
Wish I was in Adelaide this Saturday.

It would have been very unfair on the girls if they had the exact same penalty as Chris and Anastasia. It seems pretty obvious that their penalty would be less as a) they cut through one piece of the log and b) they were not the ones who decided to quit the task. I actually think they had played that leg the best of all teams until they formed with Chris and Anastasia.

The girls couldn't do any more but how does that justify them not getting the regulation penalty?
The whole point of the challenge (and remember the teams choose their partners themselves) was that they had to work together and take the results, good or bad, together.
There's no point having team challenges if, when it goes pear-shaped, you simply mete out time penalties based on which team in the group achieved the most.
If you have the challenges you should be all in together, whether the result is good or bad.
How so? They chose to work with Chris and Anastasia, knowing what the challenge was, and should have to accept the ramifications of their decisions, be they good or bad.

I thought that was a great challenge.
As for the 2 hour penalty. I think the girls should have been made to cut their extra piece and then they could continue as normal. It wasn't really their fault that the challenge was failed.

Would have been interesting if they had mixed up the teams what would have happened, eg Chris + one of the models went first

That log sawing really should have been a detour as that way it would have given teams that were struggling the choice of doing another less physical task.
I guess they didn't know how the teams were going to pair up with the intersection but with 3 all male teams, two male/female teams and one all female team there was always a chance it was going to disadvantage some teams more than others and that's how it turned out.

What's the point in having such challenges if you can treat one half of the team different to the other half?
As i said earlier, they chose their team and should have to go down with their team (or enjoy any success they have).
No-one complained (That we know of), so why does it matter? This is a TV series, not an Olympic event. Rules can be chopped and changed on the spot.
A non-issue really. The right result eventuated so there should be no reason for complaint.
