Only just thawed out.

First time at a CHFL grand final since 2004. Northern Oval was better when you could back the work ute up the fence and sit in a camp chair, rather than freezing your nads off in a soulless grandstand.
Using the food outlets rather than the North Canteen was also an issue. There was no chat available with the volunteers from Beaufort so my chips came with gravy & cheese. I therefore couldn’t place them in my chips & gravy ranking system. Gravy was of a good quality & quantity, would have been top 10 without the cheese.

Did hear some grumbling that now Buninyong, Learmonth & Bungaree are quality grounds, it should be time to take the Grand Final back to CHFL venues.

You are not wrong about only just thawing out conditions were horrible. Left mid second quarter but Bungaree looked like the nerves got to them in the part I watched and didn't seem like they'd settled at all compared to Daylesford.

Caleb McGrath and Taylor Hall officially confirmed as joint coaches at Waubra.
Mitch Walsh to coach Skipton with Josh Webster as assistant.
Half the clubs in the league have changed coach for next season which is interesting.
Waubra, Ballan, Rokewood Corindhap and Buninyong going with joint coaches which seems a high number of clubs going down that path.

Some interesting player movements early in the off season.
Rokewood Corindhap signing a few. Windmill money proving helpful?
Hepburn losing both Grant boys was unexpected.
Learmonth bringing in some more youth.
Ballarat forum suggesting Adam Toohey leaving Gordon. Any truth to that?
Zack Ryan heading back to the Central Murray league also.
Bungaree topping up through family ties with Geordie Lukich.
Buninyong busy resigning current and former players.
What other signings are generating interest?

Learmonth seem to be splashing some cash and getting some good results. Who else are big winners so far this off season?

Skipton.
Added Luke Delahey, retained Ben Lusby, brought Liam Phillips home. Former Taylor Medallist and coach, Sam Willian, returning.
Depth improved with Josh Sargent and Alex McLean coming across from Lexton. McLean a former junior also.

Don't know much about Delaney. Are these guys replacing what's lost or on top of last year's list?

Dunnstown the others who have added to there list well.

Not much news out of clunes newlyn and creswick and surely hepburn have some spare cash to splash with who has left there so I expect something big to happen with them at some stage.

Rokewood another with a good number of signings but like most years maybe question the quality.

Plenty look to be on the way out the door at Hepburn. What’s the story there?

Clunes got a few quality recruits in but maybe too many going back out the other way.

I think you’ll see a significant improvement with Beaufort. Added some players going off their socials.
I think Rokewood will be smokies for season 2025.
Creswick need to fire a few shots with their recruiting haven’t really done much for a few seasons now. Will struggle to make any kinda of impact if you continue not to add to your list.

Beaufort coming from a long way back but are adding talent. They need all positions tho and I haven’t seen much key position talent come through the door yet.

Agreed mate they are coming from a long way back.
And you’re right about the key position status. Unfortunately they don’t grow on trees and most country league teams would love an extra 2-3 key position players.
and unless you have the $$ you won’t get any game changing ones through the doors of your club.

Fixture out.

Daylesford not getting to unfurl the flag round 1? But then getting to do it the next week when Hepburn visits, the fixture computer must have a sense of humour!

David Brehaut at the Courier had put together a list of the top ten recruits as he sees it. How did he go?

Daniel Burton (Gordon)
Tim McLennan (Rosewood Corindhap)
Connor Thar (Waubra)
George Romios (Ballan)
Luke Delahey (Skipton)
Tim Haase (Newlyn)
Mitch Bishop (Clunes)
Travis Parsons (Dunnstown)
Geordie Lukich (Bungaree)
Charlie Perks (Learmonth)
