Why can't Navarre & Natte Bealiba Junior join the Castlemain and District league Problem Solved for the football side of it
like Leitchville gunbower juniors have join goulburn murray Juniors
when their seniors joined Heathcote & Dist

I am sure navarre and Natte would rather travel to the footy as a family which is what they have been used to.

Simpler if the MCDFNL introduced an U14 comp and the Castlemaine based clubs of the MCDFNL took their kids from the Castlemaine Junior league and played in the MCDFNL. Then they could all travel to the football as a family, rather than mom taking one kid to one place and dad going elsewhere. The MCDFNL would be a much better league if all of their clubs were under the one banner rather than having a senior and junior division.

This would obviously leave the problem of some of the Castlemaine junior clubs that are not aligned with MCDFNL Clubs out in the cold, but Perhaps the VCFL could conduct a review to change that problem. Maybe they could play in the Bendigo junior comp.??

Must've been watching a different WIN news......they said top 10 from CHFL would make up Div 1 in 1st year. Learmonth currently sitting 13th 8 pts plus percentage behind 10th so will take a big turn around for them to make the top 10.

Could probably lock the top 7 in now (Hepburn, Buninyong, Daylesford, Dunnstown, Waubra, Beaufort & Springbank) with Bungaree, Ballan, Newlyn, Clunes & Gordon fighting for the remaining 3 spots.

Todays Courier has Learmonth in Division 2 and Newlyn in Div 1

This is a problem that desperately needs to be sorted out but is prob not for this thread. It is making an under 14 comp almost impossible to run for the remaining MCDFL teams. The VCFL probably needs to intervene as the Castlemaine comp participants wont budge.

up shepperton way Leitchville Gunbower who playes in the Heathcote dfl their juniors have to play in the Goulburn Campaspe Juniors so no difference or

they could play for either Waubra or Learmonth until they get passed the age group and can play next grade

hi guys would like to know what people from this league think about lexton not having juniors considering 5 clubs including them are jumping over next year.

yeah its a good point.. in the chfl at moment waubra dont have 15's and in a few years may not have 18s either.. also i dont like the sound of div 1 and div 2. it is a good to an extent but what if your 1's and 2's are terrible but your 18s are a powerhouse and deceant they could get put into division 2 when they are the best team in both

Maybe if the 'powerhouse' 18s weren't hiding in the juniors the 1's and 2's wouldn't be so terrible. I'm sure the VCFL will decide which clubs will be in division 1 by the strength of their under 18s, hell why not even take the under 12s into account as well.

I’m not associated with this league anymore but have been watching and reading the reports about the 2 divisions proposed for next season with interest. Rather than splitting the CHFL into 2 divisions it seems more like 4 CH clubs are getting the boot into the LPFL – rebadged as CHFL division 2. As it stands Creswick Learmonth Gordon and Ballan will be the 4 clubs getting the heave ho and I’d say they will be in division 2 for a long time to come – if they manage to survive long term. Will be very hard recruiting players to a struggling 2nd division team. Rivalries that have been built over 30 years and in some cases longer will be lost forever. This league has been stable for years with clubs trying to get in rather than any clubs wanting to leave. Crowds are good, in finals they are huge. So why ruin it? Its almost as if the league is being penalised for being successful or maybe its because the clubs still run the league instead of changing to the supposed better model of an independent board. Like the BFL where clubs from the east are wanting to leave and the LPFL which is stuffed. Great example of the work of independent boards! Out of the 23 clubs involved in this ‘restructure’ it appears that only 2 are getting what they want – Ararat Eagles and Natte Bealiba. The rest – particularly the 4 central highlands clubs getting the arse – will have to bow to the will of the VCFL to suit the wishes of 2 clubs. And for Ararat its like moving the deck chairs on the titanic anyway. They won’t survive

R.I.P CHFL. It was good while it lasted.:(

Unfortunally under the VCFL Rules stating I Found on Benalla & district website The VCFL policy of leagues having a minimum of six clubs could not be met. thats why Benalla And District was forced to Fold thats what happening with LPFL

If there is no relegation/promotion then it is just 2 seperate leagues.
I think this is only a temporary fix anyway because at the end of it all there is still the same number of clubs to support.
And there seems to be confusion (maybe it's just me) about which CHFL clubs a getting stuffed into Div 2..ie Clunes or Sprinbank over Learmonth?Newlyn look like being big losers if they make Div 1.
I'd expect a lot of clearances to come before the start of next season pertty much everywhere.
One day there will have to be some mergers happening i would say!
But i def can't see the sense in your R.I.P CHFL comment. Soon it's apparently going to be 20 clubs strong (if you accept the 2 Div structure)??
RIP LPFL would be more accurate!

a Conference on geographic location would be better eg Picola DFL uses a Conference system

Well RIP CHFL as we know it then. The fact is 4 of the foundation clubs of the league will get the boot. Going by the criteria of ladder position (unless something miraculous happens in the last 5 weeks) 2 of those will be Creswick and Learmonth. How do you think Learmonth are going to feel about that? Played in a couple of preliminary finals over recent seasons and have a bad year and end up in division 2. How easy do you think it is going to be for them to go out and recruit so they can improve and push into division 1? Very very difficult. The other 2 who get booted is still uncertain but what if 1 is Bungaree? Similar situation to Learmonth. Always around the top 6 or 7 and if they finish 11 this year - bye bye. Not fair I say.
Wouldnt it be logical to send Beaufort and Waubra into the LPFL keeping it an 8 team league, they are closest to the remaining clubs?
Maybe last in first out should apply, Daylesford and Beaufort?
Maybe 1 of the criteria should be division 1 teams must have the full compliment of football and netball teams, 5 football and 6 netball?
Why not merge the Mininera league and Lexton Plains and don't touch the CHFL. If clubs want to leave the CHFL let them, but don't kick 4 out under the bogus concept of 2 divisions, its just moving clubs from 1 league to another to appease 2 clubs from another league.

I guess you're choosing to see this as the CHFL giving up 4 teams to prop up they dying LPFL. I guess i'm not seeing it that way. I'm not saying i'm 100% behind the 2 Div structure but am trying to look on the brightside and think it will create some interest in the league.

Also apparently the idea is being floated to have a 20 team comp for maybe 2 years where everyone plays everyone once and then the 2 Divisions will be broken up after that???
I can't see Learmonth getting booted based on 1 year(you've jumped ship, would you return if they in Div 1?) and Bunga are sitting 7th so think they'll remain off the chopping block. Plus teams lke Gordon and Clunes might find recruiting easier now that all of a sudden they'll potentially be more competitive. But as i said earlier there is still the same amount of teams about so only a matter of time before some fall/merge. Can only hope it's those that go to Minniera or MCDFl for all i care.

Any chance of some footy talk. You know as how are teams travelling EG: buninyong have hit a wall, will they be be up there come finals time. All this talk about DIV 1 DIV 2 is getting boring. Your all specualting and I am sure once the decission is made we will all know about it.
All teams have now played each other once, who's favorite for premiership? league medal? Rookie of the year?

why does our league get wrecked when its their league that has the problem? we are gettin punished for them?
And i think the teams that get put into the 2nd division should be the teams whos juniors and seniors are struggling..

Alright then. Had a quick look at the ladder and mmm.....no team really seems to stand out as premiership favourites. I guess you could make a case for the team that is undefeated with a % of about a million but I'm not prepared to stick my neck out.
League medal - Coulthard
Rookie of the year - Some kid just out of under 18s

Thats exactly how I see it.

20 team comp was talked about and believe it was rejected outright at recent delegates meeting.

Bunga are 8th with games against Beaufort Buninyong Hepburn Dunnstown to come. Far from being safe from the chopping block.

Clunes confident of Weatherley return next year, bet he won't play if they end up in division 2.

Anyway I've had my say and it doesn't affect me but I just think its sad that they are going to butcher a strong league to try and save a basket case and 4 clubs who have been part of that strength for more than 30 years bear the brunt.

Good luck with it.

Two massive games this weekend. If Daylesford upset Hepburn they will secure second spot. If they lose, and Bunninyong beat waubra the bombers will go back into second with four rounds to go against Newlyn, Creswick, Gordon and Bungaree and a better percentage...Does Hepburn want to go unbeaten again???

You are probably right Merrigan but doesn’t the VCFL have an obligation to at least try to ensure the survival of all existing clubs under its banner? My understanding is that Ararat Eagles will fold if forced to remain in the LPFL and Natte are also finding the going tough. Should they just let these clubs die? Your points about foundation clubs and rivalries lost etc are valid but strong clubs will adapt and those that choose to bury their heads in the sand will not. People don’t like change but it’s a fact of life.
Maybe there are other options to look at.
Make it an equal 7/7 split of CHFL clubs instead of 10/4?
If the issue is the stigma of being in division 2, call it something else?
Arrange the divisions along geographical lines?
Final 5 system in each division and the winners of the 2 grand finals play each other in a 6th week for league premiers.

Just an option.

Don't think they have ever gone unbeaten!
Pop quiz, who was the last team to go -or who has ever gone - Premiers and Champions?

Anyway the finals look set -well they've looked set for awhile but still not
guaranteed. Anyone from Bunninyong permitted to speak on here and let us know how disappointed you guys really are with where you are sitting on the ladder? I know you are confident of a return 2nd spot and the double chance but thats based on the draw really.

Dunnstown were undefeated in 1994 while won of Ballan's back to back flags in the early 80's was also Premiers & Champions so it has happened but very rare

Knowing a few of the Buningyong lads, they are more worried about getting some players and form back in last four weeks... positions on ladder at end of season wont mean much if the forms not there for any team

The bunnies dont need to worry about form. May have had form against the bottom 8 teams but unfortunately you dont play finals against them!!!! The biggest win they have had this year was the draw!!! Good Team = bunninyong missing. Better luck next year boys.
