By saying a few surprises for RND 1 I would be guessing that Ballan will be using the permit rule and bringing in some players from Geelong.... Under 3 weeks to go, so transfers will have to be in pretty soon if anyone is wanting to play round 1. Ballan will certainly get some BIG scalps this year, especially at their home ground, as they have some quality players.
As for the Carlton recruit, why not give a name, or is it more like a Northern Bullant recruit..????

I don't want to steal Ballan's thunder by giving away the Carlton player's name.

I have heard that quite a few teams will be using Geelong league players on permit. I could only see that pi$$ing off fringe players and people who the club would be counting on being there for the season. I'd say teams should start with the team they would be hoping to play finals with. Give the bottom 4 or 5 as much experience as possible rather than bring some ring ins for a few cheap wins.

My thoughts would be different if they were coming in for the last few games and finals, but that won't be the case in this instance.

If you prepared to make the claim then you should be prepared to give us a name too. Anyway it would need to be Fevola to make any difference the way they went on the weekend

I agree it would need to be a star, as a response to an earlier post, they have lost hehir, both whelan boys, benedetti, luke sims, and broome, all of which played seniors last year, plus numerous other players from the two,s. The old story is your'e only as good as your bottom six, so this must put pressure on considering they have not many clearances in at the moment. Additionally the players they have appeared to recruit will certainly bolster their non existant backline. Also heard Danny Mullane is carrying a chronic hip injury. Not trying to sink their ship, but lets report it as it is.

Okay then...

Stephen Kernahan.

Nah, I'll leave the names out as there is no point talking $hit until the deal is finalised.

I would love to see it happen for the league but these things often never get off the ground.

Good point. Clubs should be wary when a number of 2's players leave. These are the guys that may never get called upon for the 1's but there is nothing worse than turning up to see your 2's shorthanded and getting beaten badly.

Also, you want your fringe players going back and playing a decent game in the 2's, not a 20 goal drubbing.

Fair enough, but if you want to report it as it is, tell the whole story not half. Oliver Collier Leon Green Sacco Molsworth Mcintyre Oppenhouse Branch Muttimer, theres 10 players onto the list that werent there last year(plus with luck a few more) Not all are senior guys but are numbers none the less. The departures, heheir great player but not great for morale, lot of blokes don't like his KICK IT TO ME style, benedetti a loss for sure, as is sims and broome but more than covered by the new guys, and BOTH whelan boys? well as 1 of them played about 1/2 of 1 senior game last year, thats a massive loss and tha other goes ok but not popular with many of his team mates because of his ego and negative attitude.
Danny Mullane - burning up the track, his hip is fine

Molesworth hasn't played for years ( back injury) Matt Green been away for years, has he still got it, although was a quality player, Mutimer reserves, Sacco i don't rate, Oliver ruck and goes well, but I dont see any engine room players that can run all day and break open the play, additionally I don't care about players and their idiosyntric ways, lets face it theirs no greater ego than the great man Watts, and if a couple of those boys only go okay, why did TMG spend so much time in trying to retaimn them. You can lose 6 backmen and pick up four forwards, which equates to more goals, but you cant defend your score.

Is that James Molesworth your talking about here..??? Used to be a gun junior, but your right in that he hasnt played footy in years..?
Matt Green struggled the other week against Buninyong, and will need to improve a lot to be in the best 10, and to make any impact.
Helmut can you explain to us why salesi uhi doesnt train, I know he is a personal trainer in Melbourne, but if your a paid player, you would expect him to train atleast once a week, and attend functions...???

On molesworth your right he has been injured for afew years but hes done a heap of work on his back and is training and good to go, and you would know he can play.
Why wouldnt green still have it? Don't lose your ability overnight and has been playing good footy in cairns, hes a gun.
I didnt claim mutimer would be in the 1s i said not all were senior blokes, just responding to your quote that some 2s guys were going by pointing out that there were new guys coming in as well.
You dont rate sacco, fair enough but lots of people do.
Agree on oliver,goes good.
Double agree on watts, no bigger ego but would you agree he backs it up and gets on well with nearly every body at the club.
Don't agree with you about the idio whatevers of players, sometimes it can hurt the team and club, just ask brisbane and akamanis. If heher had of stayed other guys would have left because they couldnt get on with him, probabaly the same ones that are leaving anyway so we may as well hung on to him!
The only one who i said goes ok was jake whelan and i didnt say ONLY ok like you make out i meant he was no good. He goes ok, hes not a match winner but he had a pretty good year and i'm dissappointed that he's leaving but i know some others arent. I heard he was going because he had personal issues with some guys at the club so he obviously doesnt like idiosyncx... of some pelayers to. I hope he kicks on and does well but i can't see that going where hes going is going to develop him. He just never seems happy to me.
Im not sure what your getting at with the backmen/forwards comment as none of the guys coming are forwards.

Is there a fair bit of internal bickering at Ballan?? Never heard of so many blokes leaving that dont get along with each other?? Not having a go just reading what is being posted...

No all sweet from my perspective, harja heher rubs a lot of people up the wrong way wherever he goes Im told. like i said before, great footballer but very abrasive and demanding on team mates especially on the ground. Only a couple leaving because they aren't happy as far as i know, which would be the case at 99% of footy clubs. For some reason any thing that happens at ballan seems to get highlighted on here with blokes wanting to have a go about non issues. Have a look on clearance site and see that most other clubs have more leaving than us and just because you leave a club doesnt mean you dont get along with people.

My understanding is that Jake left and left behind a contract to play a year with his uncle, who also played at Ballan ( just to set the record straight), not because he didn't get on with anyone. The point I was trying to make was that they have lost three running midfielders, that to me they haven,t replaced, additionally I agree with another comment , paid players should be demanded to attend training, I remember when Ballan had Cavedon ( ex carlton ) he trained at least one night a week

Is the Central Highlands League starting its season on time or will it be delayed?

From what I understand is it will definantly start on time, as it should. Games can be played Sat & Sun and there are enough grounds avail at this stage. Grounds that are avail from my knowledge are L'Month, D'Dord, Clunes, D'Town, Ballan, Bungaree, Springbank, Beaufort??.

I agree that you should have to have a run somewhere- but i don't think they should be required to travel from Melb to train. Its a massive committment after work and if you make these players train at the club then you are less likely to get them to play. With Petrol prices you would want to be on a packet to make it worth it considering you can get some good money in leagues around Melb

Astro or Harry HP, What is going on with Steve Nicholson? Heard he hasn't bothered to go to training cause he thought he be good enough to get a game without going, and the Skona has said he's no longer wanted at the club and won't play Seniors in round 1 because of his attitude.

Heard no one likes him already out there and he wants to go back to Redan. Can you confirm?

As the MCDFL is to start at the later time of 5th May someone in the CHFL might be interested in playing Avoca in a practice match at the Avoca ground w'end 14th or 15th April. The ground is in good order.
The ground is also available for other teams to use for a small fee. Waubra held an intra - club practice match there last weekend and I thought it was a great success.
The Secretary can be contacted on 54653003 or mobile 0419 653003.

Not sure where your getting your info, but last i heard he was away, and thats why he hadn't been to training.

As for no one liking him, i doubt that is the case cause he hasn't really been there long enough for anyone to dislike him or form an opinion yet. Not sure where your pulling this info from scoots....

I can vouch for this. Avoca ground in great nic and definately worth looking into a practice match there.

But the highlight of the day was the news that 'Wokker" may be taking up a part time trainer role for the Waubra boys. This is fantastic news as Wokker's agility and knowledge out on the ground when a player is down is a valuable asset that any club would want. We should all know Wokker, cause as he said over the bus PA system: "G'day im Wokker, you probably already know me..."

Wokker for PM.

In his defence he has just finished playing in an A grade cricket GF, plus a cricket trip to Perth for 5 days so he is probably letting the body.....and liver recover a bit. Nicho is naturally fit and skillful enough to walk into Waubra's starting 18.
As for nobody liking him at Waubra, he tends to have that effect on you if you don't get to know him, as all good players do.
Also heard a rumour he is back training with Redan? Scoots you might know more about this?

So skona told you this?

Gadget, you're not the first bloke on here to get yourself a second alias, but I think you are the first to start actually responding to your own posts. First you were the Pelican, then Gadget and now Scoots! You know Nicho and Skona...if you're interested in how the Kid is travelling, why not just ask them?

There are plenty of blokes floating around that have missed some training and the practice matches - all have been accounted for and have their reasons. Waubra still have a practice match to play and these blokes will have an opportunity to prove their worth.
