Lack of juniors I'd think, quamby, ultima have had their primary schools shut, there's no kids coming through. So it appears clubs are getting proactive and looking for a good merge to occur, where both clubs identities are kept.

Yep boort and quamby would be a good fit too, I thought of Boga as plenty of Boga guys have gone to quamby over the years

I've heard in recent years talk of the Golden Rivers folding but why wouldn't they continue? Never see any forfeits? Word is Clubs are more Financial in that area than lots of other places.

I think murrabit and Barham, keep the name river raiders, play some home games at murrabit.

Both murrabit and wandella would have the ability to run on their own, as both are well run clubs, they'd need to find a minor league though, maybe the north central or Loddon valley league, both have large travel though, but it seems as if clubs are being proactive rather then like the Mallee league folding

if I was lake Boga I’d be sounding out Murrabit and I’d reckon Wandella would head with Kerang. Macmaybe with a Cohuna or Leitchville??

just thoughts

The Lack of Juniors is the Majority of the Country side. Even if the Golden Rivers ended up being a Seniors and Reserves Competition that would be a better option than a Merger where they are virtually getting taken over. That would be my stance if I was involved in one of those Clubs.

Maybe in days gone by that was the case, but if you look at recent mergers, like ouyen United and the proposed wyche and Charlton merger are not takeovers as what has occured in the past

Juniors are the lifeblood of country clubs, it's hard enough to get reserves to play, pretty soon it's a senior team only, defies logic to continue like that

plenty of ideas and possibilities. Hopefully clubs are being proactive
I can’t see Wandella going with Kerang. They would loose to much of there identity. If there is no Grfl and they went to either the Loddon valley or north central they would be able to recruit out of Kerang and Swan Hill for players not wanting to play central Murray.
Wouldn’t be surprised if leichville gunny and cohuna join over the next few years either.

That was a worst case example

Cohuna and Leitchville-Gunbower to join where?

Not sure really which way they would go. They are on the edge of 4 leagues so central Murray or Heathcote leagues are both options. Whichever way they go they need to travel.

I think cohuna wanted to join the hdfl a couple of years ago

Cohuna have been and always will be a perfect fit for the Central Murray league. I really don’t know why they would want to move. I also reckon a Leitchy/Cohuna merger would be a bad move for both.

I think cohuna being on the edge of the cmfl, they've always had thoughts of moving, I think they even thought about the Bendigo league, but I think their main concern is they lose their juniors south, so why not play down south and retain them all

Has to be a league bye this week, get on the front foot brookshaw
Cohuna have the bye this week so it will only effect the Tooleybuc v Lake Boga game. If people attending the Collingwood game on the weekend only have to isolate until they get a negative test back it should be similar to for this. Should still be able to play Saturday.
This will put a lot of pressure on clubs and their covid officers.

depends on where players live etc...teams may be affected by Melbourne based players not being able to travel etc.

still the likely possibility of a lockdown as it stands right now
