Maybe young Guerra doesn’t want to play at Barham Trent. Maybe just because some idea pops into your head doesn’t make it reality either..
Barham has got back 5 or so ex local players, some young kids from Kerang and Maryborough and some experience & star power to help win them a few games.. can’t see much wrong doing there
Well I hope they've asked the question? As he'd play for well under what they are paying for the travellers. Where's the star power? Don't see monti, Geary hourigan etc

I’m sure Marcus being the smart man he is would of asked the question Trent.

Must be chasing some $$ young Guerra and not care to much about winning since he has signed at Inglewood.

People might think I'm been harsh on the raiders, and I rate them recruiting the Bremners, Thomas Wilkinson, the murrabit boys for depth. And hopefully they get Lancaster from wandella too.

But they've got young guerra playing 30 minutes away, who played in a grand final team, in a similar standard league, i hope they chased him pretty hard and he just wants a change, they could have got him and got him 2 bring 2 mates from that side. Instead of the maryborough boys. The money they're using from arho and Parker, I would have made a massive offer to phillips from lbu to be assistant coach and I would have thrown the sink at 5 or 6 echuca reserves guys, 20-24 years of age to come over with opportunity to play senior footy in a good standard of footy still. Those guys would bring the echuca standards and are super keen to play senior in a good standard league . You'd find all these guys are locally based and can train together two nights a week and they'll stay 3 years and then you have a nucleus of a really good side and set the club up.
I have never coached before either and I’m sure it’s easier said than done, but I absolutely agree with this theory Trent. Build your depth and bring in enough to be competitive without spending buckets on old money chases, they won’t be winning the flag next year so add the mercenarys in year 3 when you’re potentially challenging for a flag. Will be interesting to see how it pans out! My mail was they went hard for Trav Matheson (Eaglehawk) and Andrew Saladino (Heathcote) Not sure what happened there but will be interesting to see if Barham have made the right call!

But you need good experienced players around the younger players and depth players
1: to help lead them and improve them And
2: otherwise they take off when they don’t win a game like what has happened recently.

Saladino decided against taking the job due to the travel

Gday all,

Just been sitting here thinking and I think it’s worth a reminder to everyone that we stick to discussing footy and leave to other stuff alone.

Everyone on here and those we talk about are real people, with lives, families etc and even though they might not all post here they all end up seeing and hearing about it and it can have an affect.

Think about the words we write and if we were happy for it to be about someone we care about.

Cheers,

Luke

What’s happening over at Kerang? Something gone pear shaped or what? Lost a dozen blokes and haven’t signed any.. I know it’s the old “end of an era” type scenario but geez they’ve lost some personal

I just think that finally they’ve come to the end of one of country footy’s great eras.

Changing of the guard for them but it won’t be a complete drop off given the size of the town and the demise of the golden rivers league

They will be okay boys, they might dip a bit next season, but they'll get senior games and fast track their best youngsters, their young reserves guys will be hungry to prove themselves as well. They understand the kerang way of footy.

Kerang made the decision back in 2003 to really invest in their locals and get the best young guys in from the golden rivers. To fast track their development they got a couple of stars from other clubs in the league in their prime and a couple of hungry young territory guys. They'll keep the same logic, Hunter looks like he'll go to the wafl and improve he's footy and come back a better player in 2 or 3 years time. Same with nitschke at south and they widen their recruiting radar again to top up.

The club is in a far better position because of what they did in 03 and it'll keep them in good shape.

I think they will more than dip next year, currently lost 12 from there grand final side with no inclusion is a big task!

They lost one of there best young players to Barham and a lot of the fringe reserve players have left as well.
What’s the Kerang way of footy??
