Can anyone from up Tigerland way tell me how the form of Owen Hone and Nick Arther are and how they are fitting into the club. I watched their development through the juniors and early senior days.

Would he put his hand up to coach the dogs next season
how many teams will be on the look out for coaches next season, any chance of seeing L Bennett coaching his beloved eagles, i for one would play under the great man

Will be lucky to get a game next year on current form let alone coaching anyone. Jags will be coaching us again next year.

On O'Toole i am pretty sure he has coached Ultime in the past hasn't he and I am sure he would do a good job coaching any side but am not sure if he is considering doing it again

Xavier Moloney made the All Australian team following the country carnival. A fair indication of his ability i would say.

Just on O'Sullivan, was he ever considered for higher levels of football? He will go down as one of the greats of football in this league imo.

He went and had a year in the SANFL if i remember correctly. It has got me buggered how the Bendigo Bombers or any of the VFL clubs didnt get hold of him. A big bloke that can get around the ground as he does are exactly what the AFL looks for.

His record will compare with anyonne who has ever played up here thats for sure.

Did he make the Pioneers list when he was eligible. Would like to see how he would go in the VFL though.

I agree with you there Roota... He should have been scouted. What exactly were his flaws that seen him not picked up?

Well Roota he cannot possibly go worse than another Saint who wears number 23 down in the big city!
Action starting to hot up now that finals are close. Final five pretty much locked in, what are the thoughts of those here in regards to premiership material. The top 3 have all impressed me. It promises to be a great finals series.

If my memory serves me correctly he was a real battler in juniors maybe overweight even and struggled to get a game in swan hill ressies after going up from the 3rds then in the space of a year went from playing twos to being the interleague ruckman, he would certainly make the grade in the vfl now and i reckon he would give a shaun hampson a run for his money

Sully has the skill to be at the AFL, maybe his development was just too late and was never spotted under 22 or 23. Back then (6-8 years ago) once you turned 19 your AFL chances were pretty much shot.
With new teams and all that has changed a bit.

Speaking of rucks there are a few in the league this season. O'Sullivan leads up the group but Troy Kelm (Kerang) is going well and he is 23 I think. Liam 'Turtle' Wilkinson from the Roos has been strong, Josh Jenkins from the Pies has had some recent AFL or VFL interest according to the paper and Callam Beasy, Gilmore, Ross Rohde and Dean Pound have had good seasons so far. Good to see some big blokes in the leagu

Premiers Seniors: Kerang

Premiers Colts: Koonbar Raiders

Next years wish: More AFL practice games up here.

where do you think they would play them?

I remember Essendon and St Kilda (I think) playing a practice match at Cohuna in 1990. Big open spaces and Lockett and Salmon kicked a few that day.

well i can tell you now it wont happen again. there will not be an afl game played in the region until there is a ground that doesn't have a centre wicket area (which is crap cause i'm pretty sure QEO in bendigo still hosts cricket in summer anyone clarify?)
swan hill rural city council are looking at making Swan Hill Showgrounds a football only ground where Tyntynder and Swan hill would share facilities and the ground would be AFL only with summer to repair itself and host AFL/VFL games.

So that would make Alan Garden a cricket only venue then? Can't see any parties agreeing to that. I love my football as much as the next bloke and am all for making grounds safer, but the local sporting facilities are for everyone to use, not just football for six months of the year. Am not suprised that council would be looking at turning the rec into a football only venue, considering their mentality is give local football all it wants and stuff the other sporting organisations.

Premiers Seniors: This is one I cannot decide on. At times I have though Swan Hill, Balranald, Kerang and even Lake Boga.
Premiers Reserves: Lake Boga
Premiers Colts: Kerang or Tyntynder in a storming finish
League B&F: Xavier Moloney or Joshua Coulter
Rookie: Not too sure on this one. Couple good kids at Tyntynder, couple at Cohuna and couple at Swan Hill.
Biggest Flop: Jarrod Tyler came with big wraps. Not keen on this 'award'
Next years wish: A kid to come on and get picked up so we have representation in the AFL. Leigh Masters is doing well at TAC Cup leve and Josh Jenkins has been floated around. Let's hope someone gets in there

Earl do you see me supporting this anywhere in my statement? I'm just telling it how it is! I know for a FACT that when the council and the consultation company sat down with Tyntynder and told them that they didn't support it at all as they raised all the money to pay for their lights and clubrooms and would essentially lose this infrastructure as well as revenue if they were to share with Swan Hill.
But if the town and region want AFL games etc in the area then trust me this will happen and clubs will not get a say.

Now, the top 5 is almost guaranteed to be settled. Let's maybe preview the games.

Balranald - Week break.

Swan Hill v Kerang @ Cohuna Rec Reserve:
Both are clean, slick running sides. Swan Hill are light on for quality size but plenty runners and ball-winners. Blues are strong in the middle and have multiple goal scorers.

Tooleybuc v Lake Boga @ Swan Hill Res Reserve:
Tooleybuc almost looked like missing out but will sneak in. Rely on 6 or so week in week out to get the job done. Those players will need to dominate for them to do any damage. The Magpies are a dangerous unit when on song. Nalder just back from injury with others to come apprently.

This whole idea of using each ground for only one sport each is confusing and would surely cause logistical issues especially for cricket as both the Swan Hill and UTUFCC have more than one senior side. It is obviously easier for the footy as the two clubs do not play in town on the same day anyway and could alternate. However it I was Tyntynder and was being asked to no longer play home games at our ground anymore I would not be happy

It was just a wish guys. But in saying that, I would like to think that the wider community would support an AFL practice match. Surely the grounds within the league could sustain the rigours of it. I mean it is the Country leagues around Victoria that produce a fair percentage of draftees each year. Why can't the AFL put something, that is meaningful, back into grassroots footy. Not just a token gesture like Grassroots footy week. Anyway....
Last round and the 5 looks set unless Tyntynder can pull off the win of the year. Balranald to have the week off in week 1. Some great finals action coming up and it should reflect in the finals gate takings. Correct me if I am wrong, but there may be all clubs participating in the finals apart from Lalbert and Nyah not being represented.

Pardon my ignorance, but... how do they decide who gets home rooms?
