BT won't be calling games on Friday night next season. He'll call Thursday night games instead. Hamish McLaughlin or Alastair Nicholson will do Friday night games alongside James Brayshaw.
So Gazey's mail was correct. Didn't take him as someone on the pulse of the footy media news tbh.

according to the Hun:
Taylor will only partner with regular Friday night co-commentator James Brayshaw for marquee matches such as Anzac Day and finals. It’s believed McLachlan will likely replace him beside Brayshaw on Friday nights.

Taylor’s Roaming Brian segment could also move to Thursday nights as the new post-broadcast program called Extra Time moves into Fridays.

basically Thursday is the new Friday, and Friday is the new Saturday night.

Surprised that 7 would move BT from Friday night.

Not a fan but he'd at least provide a potential point of difference for viewers to Hudson and Whateley, whereas brother of and Brayshaw would be more similar to the Fox duo.

Offer contrasting styles, a bit like the ABC and Rex Hunt back in the day on the radio.

Instead 7 have gone Foxtel lite.

The only advantage Fox has over 7 these days is no ads during play.

I can 'tolerate' commentary on either networks but i don't see how people make out fox is a shining light

In terms of actual callers, asides from Huddo and Hill (I'm not throwing Whateley in until i see him call on TV) they don't seem to offer much different. The overall state of AFL commentary is garbage

Jon Anderson’s column in the Sunday Herald Sun clarified that the commentary pairings next year will be:

Thursday - BT and Hamish
Friday - Brayshaw and Alister Nicholson
When you put Hamish on anything, it feels less prime time. Certainly would take a shine Thursday for me

Friday night is interesting. I think Nicholson goes alright, i actually really enjoyed his commentary on this years prelim for a 7 game. But it seems like an odd pairing with Brayshaw, I wonder how it will balance out

Don't agree. Watch Bobby Hill (Fox) v Jamie Elliot (7) mark of the year this year. See a difference?
If you read the rest of my post, i said that Huddo and Hill call alright for fox, then you picked a highlight of huddo calling. My point still is the overall state of AFL commentary isn't that flash, but there are an okay few

So imagine for a bit, with the bobby hill mark, would you be as impressed if the fox footy commentators everyone seems to constantly complain about where working that arvo instead? Would you be as impressed if Kellie or Dwayne (or even screechy Howard) was called that mark instead?

I know it's a commentary thread, but I said "see" the difference, not "hear" the difference. Ch7 changes camera angle half way through Elliot's grab, which ruins it. It's a trademark of their coverage unfortunately.

Not sure that Thursday line up could get any worse. Hopefully Fox don't counter that with Russell and Underwood

BT and Hamish is an odd combo.
BT getting all the names wrong with Hamish's sucking up, boring stories and pedantry is just not something that I wish to inflict upon myself.
More likely it will be

Al and BT on Thursday
JB and Hamish on Friday
BT and Bennett on Sunday
