Speculation Chad Warner [OOC 2025]

West Coast fans are overestimating the gap btwn what they'll offer and what Sydney/Freo will. I can see West Coast's offer being 10-20% higher than Freo's/Sydney's, and that could be enough to be decisive. But some West Coast fans are peddling the idea that they're gonna damn near double everyone else's offer, which is nonsense.

For one thing as you said, for a player of that quality you make the room. But for another, teams don't make offers that are just completely out of whack with market value just because they can afford it for that 1 player. Sure if West Coast offer 2 mil+ per season it might be "too good to pass up" money. But it'd also be "too high not to obliterate your pay standards" money. Suddenly every West Coast player who's remotely good has their manager up their demands coz they're comparing their output to Chad's and want their pay to be proportionate. Lord knows what Harley alone would demand on his next deal.

1st year may well be double. Then remaining years 10 - 20% higher.

Sign on bonus yr 1 while the cap space is available.

Not difficult to turn his head and seriously outbid both Swans and Freo in year 1 of any deal.

It how the salary cap works in favour of clubs not contending.

Ok, Lion guns

Neale
Zorko
Dunkley
Ashcroft
McLuggage
Andrews
Danhier
Cameron

I’d also consider Rayner & Bailey nudging that group too as guns.

The three players listed in the WC’s list besides Warner are currently under all of those players on exposed form & duration.

WC could add Yeo, McGovern & even Kelly but they won’t be around when you are competing again.

The other major problem is the less you have, the more work the bottom end of your list has to do. That’s where WC is really going to fall away for a long time without multiple late draft gems or continuing to get high draft picks. Trading won’t help that.

Daniher and Cameron I don't rant as elite guns.

Too inconsistent. And a small forwards output needs to be outstanding g to be classed as elite.

Well then you can't rate Oscar and Waterman as elite guns...

So puts you down to 2 with Warner

I can. And they are.

Waterman just proved it.

Oscar the previous year proved it.

Both have their best footy ahead of them if they get and stay fit.

They simply need to reproduce their recent best form and they aren't over 30 plus and retiring like Daniher just did. And Charlie likely has peaked from his AA days.

Mcluggage is a maybe
Cameron has been relatively poor this year, but hes arguably in there

Makes 5-7 depends on your personal opinion

There is no chance Ashcroft wouldve been anywhere near AA conversation this year(assuming he played like he did all year), so hes a definite no in this category for now

Rayner and Bailey just below Mcluggage/Cameron.
Rayner was the mystery addition to the AA squad that made no sense. Not counting him.

If Brisbane add Oscar Allen to their list of A graders end of next year as rumoured then West Coast will have even more currency to lure over Warner. That would be another top four pick.

Who is making that up?

The bloke will more than likely be signed up by early next year. Hes not going anywhere
We can match any FA bid too IF he could be tempted, but thats extremely unlikely

Daniher scoring 50+ goals in the last 2 home and away seasons and getting into the AA squad vs Waterman and Allen doing so only once (Waterman made the final team tbf) Screenshot 2024-11-06 at 10.32.48 am.png

I'd concede that West Coast might only be 1 or 2 A-graders short if they added Chad.

I think that tells you a lot about the rest of the list and that's why it's baffling to me they don't seem bothered taking only 4 players in the top 30 odd over 2023/24.

Each to their own.
Our most likely youngster to add to that was injured all of 2024, and its really too early to tell for some anyway.

2023 wasnt up to us, splitting the Harley pick wouldve been incredibly stupid. Cant force contracted players to wmove club, and we wouldnt have gotten much for the older players who were always injured anyway

Allen was injured a lot this year, and Waterman had his serious illness the year before.
Not really a fair comparison to use 2 years.
Waterman has only had 1 year as the #1/2 KPF target and he made AA. Allen has had 1.5 years as the #1/2 and he was elite in his uninterrupted year.

We have seen enough from both to conclude they have it in them to be up there with the best KPF duos in the comp.

Imagine if Waterman or Allen were in a premiership winning team and got a good run at it?
They kicked 50+ in bottom 3 sides, imagine how many in a good team.

Both are better forwards than Daniher

If Ashcroft winning the Norm isn’t in that list, Harley has got at least 2 more seasons till he can join them.

I stick by my eight call. If Danhier is not in, neither are Allen or Waterman.

Reid isnt on the Eagles A-grader list right now imo.
In a few years when we are in finals he should be though, Warner obviously on the Eagles list right now but we are assuming in 3-4 years time when we are decent, that the 4 players previously mentioned are our A-graders

Brisbane THIS YEAR had around 6, with Ashcroft not being one of them

I actually included Daniher btw.
