Speculation Chad Warner

Going to side with Swans here, no way Eagles 1st isn't involved (possible swap with Swans, plus more, is likely Swans worst case scenario depending where they finish up). I don't see Warner nominating, he has strong reasons to go to both clubs:

Freo: Ties to former East Freo Boys, strong team who will be competing, won't get as much money.

West Coast: More money than anywhere (plus post career bonuses), gets to play with Harley (maybe), but won't be competitive.

Either team are going to be paying out of the arse unless he nominates. His value will be dictated by what teams have. Freo likely have 2 or 3 low first rounders (inc futures), West Coast at least 2 high first rounders, one of which will be next year's. Tassie coming in massively devalues the future firsts and I've no doubt the Swans would prefer a deal with WCE.

Gun player, gonna cost a fortune, contract or not, slightly less with a nomination that I don't see coming.

Fred Rodriguez is a family friend and he'd prefer Richmond to leave him alone. He's a west Aussie through and through and wishes Freo would have the draft pick for him.

I'd rather he go to Tigers than west coast because there is every possibility he leaves eventually to go play for the club he supports.

He’s what every club needs, WCE may need to finish 17th to get him. Can’t see Richmond passing on Sharp despite adding Lalor and Smillie, but that’s for a different thread.
Ill Allow It GIF

Freo history, he is more likely to go to freo and then request trade back to Richmond.

Settle down - have you read what this is about.

There is salary and then there is “salary”.

Pick 3 and some? Who will give you that or more? He is out of contract.

Hawks pick plus future first is more than reasonable. We keep pick 3 because we are rebuilding.

No one can offer more.

Duh, WC will give us that or more, that's who

Your first plus a mix of swapped 2nd's and 3rd's is likely as we will be hunting points for the academy and wanting to beat the bids.

Warner is worth more than Baker and more than what you got for Barass. I really don't see how your 1st couldn't be involved. Your first might not even be a top 3 pick too

Now you have moved to “not likely” vs definitely.

I like it how you are getting used to it.
have not moved anywhere mate just being polite
get used to the idea you wont have have your 1st pick if warner is an eagle

he is going to be very very expensive and matty clarke is a bunny that will pay

Dangerfield 9 and 28.

Neale was pick 6 and 19 but was in contract.

Get used to that the very big players on very big salaries don’t go for very very expensive picks. Because then you have to justify to player paying them less and making them unhappy.

Your dreaming

If Eagles are the club to trade for Warner there is no chance your 1st pick is not involved
Swans wont be accepting a pick #10+ in a compromised draft and a future pick which is cents on a dollar when trading

Will be your 1st pick 3-5 plus a 3rd or future 2nd
Sydney with their 3 academy players in the top 25 shouldn't be complaining about the draft being compromised.

They are a reason it is compromised

It also depends on where the hawks finish TBH

If they slide backwards and don't make the 8 and freo make finals like they should with their list we would hold all the cards in negotiations if chad chooses west coast .

Yep just like shai Bolton its going to be expensive but the talks of potential 2 x top5 picks for warner is ridiculous .

There is plenty of similar trades with high profile young players to gauge value .

All of Jackson, Bolton, rankin , taranto and dunkley have all been traded in the last few years .

Will be your 1st pick 3-5 plus a 3rd or future 2nd

lol. Compromised by who? Swans themselves!!!!academy players is not a curse given they are beneficiaries of that compromise.

Yes, our future first, which is pick 5-7 at worst, is cents on a dollar. Sure.

Let’s say swans don’t accept…then what? They can’t pay him what market rate and likely $0.5m less than wce….what then? Just play out the scenario. Because the trade offer isn’t horrific. It’s not ideal but still damn good. Still more than what freo can come up with.

Dangerfield 9 and 28.

Neale pick 6 + 19 (but in contract).

You are continually repeating yourself

Reminds me of a particular eagles supporter that was telling us a F2 for Baker was more than enough to get the deal done whilst most Richmond supporters said a pick between 13-20 was the range.

Chad Warner is easily worth a top 3/4 pick in any draft as he has probably 8 years of top line football left
You draft an 18 year old kid and wait 4 years in the hope they may become a player like Chad if they are not a bust and actually make the grade.

The eagles 1st selection in 2025 will be the center piece of any trade if he requests a trade to the eagles
its then what else is ontop of that that will be the part getting negotiated. Eagles 1st + 3rd is a great deal for the eagles
but i wouldnt be surprised if its 2025 1st plus a 2nd rounder either 2025 or most likely 2026
Eagles will pay the price and as all Richmond posters pointed out to the eagles fans Matty Clarke pays top dollar for what he wants

We don't determine Chad's price. A few eagles supporters who think he won't be part of their first pick are kidding themselves.

Good luck wishing

Dangerfield was worth pick 1. Didn’t quite go for that.
