Those 2013 & 14 seasons were incredible, shame that was the pinnacle and we never really saw that type of performance consistently over the remainder of his career. Seemed to lose a yard of pace after that which made him a liability up forward, when they put him into the midfield full-time at Hawthorn he showed he could still find the footy but then was hit with a stack of injuries and that was it.

Hopefully we will see him around the club a bit again now as he was a fan favourite.

Also All-Australian in 2015 despite missing a chunk of the preseason through injury.

Looks like an official announcement will be made shortly.

At his absolute best he was unbelievable. You guys were incredibly lucky to watch him at his peak.

We were lucky to see glimpses of it in 2021 when he went in the midfield. He was unbelievable when on. Shame his body let him down.

Would have loved to have seen him play alongside Cyril.

Along with Robbie Gray, I thought he was the best chance at being our first Brownlow winner. That showdown was just storybook.

Thanks for the memories and we will always have those early seasons. Nonetheless when I hear his name I will always think of the player he could have been.

I do hate to see players hampered by injuries, still he didn't always do a lot to help himself and retiring at 30 seems about appropriate for him.

Interesting you bring up Cyril. Because believe it or not, Wingard between 2013-2015 was better than Cyril ever was in his career. But given Cyril played in the more dominant side, will always be remembered in higher regard. It’s such a shame we couldn’t continue to get the best out of Chad

I won't go there. Not the time nor place.

Both wonderful footballers who we were robbed of seeing for longer.

The brightest, most exciting talent in the game there for a few seasons. Winning games off of his own boot for us when we were taking the league by storm as an up and coming side in 2013 and 2014. It's weird to think of him just retiring now after playing out just a solid career at a Hawthorn side in rebuild mode.

Ken Hinkley should be in prison.

Clutch Wingod. Never quite followed through after looking like a HOF lock at the age of 21. **** he was good though
