WTF is this - City have turned into United

View attachment 2176478
yeah man i dont know. its always fascinating to me how lapses in form and standards happen to even the very best, and there is probably a question of motivation for a lot of them seeing as they have won everything really to win. pep and city as a whole have never been great at refreshing the side and probably let too many stay a year or 2 too long. but even still, i cant say i expected a 6 game winless run, with 5 of them losses.

Is KDB cooked?

Walker seems to have also fallen off a cliff.
i think kdb still has some good footy in him, he says he's finally pain free for the first time in a while. walker is the big one. i never wanted him made captain as last season he was definitely losing his pace and i dont think you need to make a bloke nearly in his mid 30's captain. plus all the shit going on in his personal life, and the fact he never really screamed leader to me. now his pace is completely gone and does this weird thing where he almost plays chicken with his opponent before they just blast past him.

KDB's problem is he has not had a proper preparation or run at his fitness for so long now. Every year he has had significant interruptions and this takes a cumulative toll on his conditioning. At his age it very difficult to catch up to what he has missed.

What a weird game.

Lacklustre in the first half but comfortable, and the same problems still evident.

After gundos goal we looked bright and I could see light at the end of the tunnel.

Then I'm trying to recall us ever throwing a game away like that.

Good thing we've got an easy one on the weekend to get back to winning ways.
I know you have injuries but what’s the issue with City? Have they lost the hunger? A result like this will surely dent morale ahead of Liverpool.

Combination of a lot of things really, most of which have been around all season, not just the last few weeks.

Motivation - maybe a few have lost a bit, it's hard to maintain after performing at such high standards for so long. I don't see a lack of effort, but maybe that intensity and desire to defend at all costs, and create chances.

Mental fatigue - I reckon a few are suffering, Gvardiol in the past few games has been responsible for 3 or 4 goals conceded. Not due to lack of desire or effort but mental errors. Ideally we'd give him a break, but I'm not sure we can right now.

Age - Bernardo, Gundo, Walker all showing signs of decline. Stones, Ake, KDB all struggling to get on thr pitch for any sustained length of time. Add in Kovacic (who has been good) it's not a great age profile.

Legs in midfield - Gundo and Kovacic just don't have the legs to control a midfield. Nunes was good last night, and I think needs to be playing most weeks alongside one of Kovacic or Gundo.

Wingers - haven't really had a consistent performance from a winger this year. Whether that be down to injury (Grealish, Doku), unsuitability (Foden, Bernardo) it's been a struggle in a really important position for us. Nunes has been bright on the left, and while Savinho has shown promise its pretty clear that at the moment he is the £30m signing we got and not the £100m signing that some were crying about in the pre-season.

I think this season will be one we get through, maybe focus on fa cup and champions league over the league (I expect us to be 10+ points behind after the weekend which is my checking out from title contention until we get back under 10 points mark). But a bit of a rebuild ahead of us. I think we'll be busy in January.
