Good to see another game pumped into nelson and waterman ...what's that now 97 games for Nelson and 63 for waterman

Really great to see these two in there prime and dominating for west coast ..................
Who are you going to swap them with though? We only have..... other spuds.

We'll draft a lot of new high draft picks in the next 3 years. They will phase into the team when they are available and ready. Right now, the cupboard is bare.

Don't sweat the spuds mate. They don't matter.

Rotham passes to Witherden
Witherden passes to Nelson

I mean 3 goals from Dixon & 21 touches in half a game from Naish in the WAFL probably deserves some sort of reward for effort right?

Considering they are both under 10 AFL games each and will be OOC at the end of the year, trialing them for most of the rest of the season seems pretty logical to me.

Naish
Rotham
Dixon
Foley
Yeo
Sheed
Trew
Bazzo
Williams (J)

Which of the above come in and who do they replace?
Out. JK, Cripps, Waterman, Nelson, Hurn
In. Dixon, Trew, Rotham, Foley, Naish.

Yeo looks premature and at risk of re-injury. A few WAFL limited weeks look best.

Dixon for JK. Let's admit it. JK, legend that he is, can barely walk these days. His knees and more are shot. Let's play a 3 tall option of Darling (doing OK right now), BWilliams as 3rd tall/2nd ruck (improving and needs to play every possible game) and Dixon. Give Dixon 5+ games on the trot to see what he really offers. I suspect it's nothing of AFL standard but at least we'll know and that's one more for the delist list come year end.
With 2 talls and a 3rd tall/2nd ruck Waterman becomes either superfluous and provides a drop and replace (preferably with a medium or small in the wet) or he moves to the wing and Nelson goes out. For me that's too tall and he's been playing badly and that lets us bring in Shuey to the HFF.

Shuey for Cripps. Easy one. With the Winder for Waterman option below this gives us an extra mid spot.
Trew for Winder on IC. Winder, see next.

Winder (off IC) for Waterman. I know that the named team has only a rough correlation in position named to actual position, but I'm trying to be realistic. In the current named team we have JK (replace with Dixon), JD, BWilliams on the bench and Waterman in forward pocket. In the wet let's go with something smaller. JD/Dixon/BW is enough forward tallness.

Rotham for Hurn. Another legend but never should have gone on once 300 was reached.

Gaff permanent wing. West or Clark inside with Trew.

Foley for Nelson if we are using him as a medium defender. Naish for Nelson if we want a wingman.

I'd like to see Bazzo given a run. Depending on balance he could be a Witherden replacement or an Edwards replacement. Though I do want to see a bit more of Harry. Could be Foley for Witherden, Bazzo for Waterman (an extra defender might not be a bad thing right now) and the extra mid/wing for Nelson.

That's fine, I get that sentiment and our performances are pissing me off too.

However, some posters on here rubbish particular players whether we win (remember that?) or lose, whether they have played well or not and whether we have a better replacement to come in or not.
Sometimes it's not going to be about having a better replacement.
I reckon Dixon and BWilliams will never reach the heights of JK, but right now both are better options.
Let's be honest. We are not in premiership contention and even finals are not going to happen. Avoiding the spoon would be quite an achievement. Anything above 17th a small miracle.
So JK will retire at year end. Any games he plays this year will make us a better team than the alternative, but will hamper development. And in the case of Dixon, any games played will let us make an assessment of the level of spuddiness and whether to keep or delist.

Same with Hurn. 10 extra games into Foley or Bazzo will be a head start for that player in 2023.

Same thing if we pasture Cripps, play Shuey forward and create a mid spot for Trew/Clark/West etc. None of them will be as good as Shuey in the middle, but hopefully will improve with a few games.

It's where we are at. It's not tanking. It's actually trying to improve the team by getting games into guys who will be here next year and the year after.

I'd probably give Dixon a game over Watermelon for no other reason than Watermelon is a known quantity and I want to see what Dixon can do while he has some sort of form (although I think we already know). Naish, I don't think the knock on him is lack of ball, I think it is what he does with it when he gets it and I think the selectors think that's not going to change.

For me, Hough show some poise with the ball and I hope he gets an extended run.

And thats the thing.. you cant say we are in rebuild mode yet still have all the old timers who are fit playing and holding out people who need to be played to see if we continue on with them or delist them..
Hurn and Kennedy should only be playing as a last resort… ie there are no tall forwards left to be picked or in hurns case no backs left. ten games into them are ten less into someone else and hold back development not enhance it. certainly shouldn’t be if fit they are picked at this stage of their careers .

It’s on the younger guys to push Kennedy and Hurn out. JK’s leading our goal scoring. Hurn’s probably top five in the B&F. Dropping them for players in worse form just because of the date on their birth certificate would be a massive slap in the face.

Holding out who?

OA and Chesser are injured. Presumably Bazzo and Williams aren't ready. Warlord hasn't been drafted yet, nor have the other cache of stars we will soon draft.

They're not holding out anyone mate. Naish and Dixon are WAFL players.

Let's say we play Dixon for 15 games straight. What do you think is going to happen? If senior players are struggling to play well in a 50% percentage side, how do you think he's going to go? He's a discard ffs. He's hardly going to come in and light it up.

Put the crack pipe down bro.

I'm happy with sending Dixon and Naish to regain find some form in the WAFL then try and force their way back in.

Dixon was always going to be cover for JK/Darling/Waterman, Naish showed great promise for a block of games, fell off a bit, and was taken off the wing to try and keep him in the side, that didn't work, so he's gone to the WAFL to work on his midfield craft. I'm glad the squad is now in a position to send players to the WAFL to hone their craft.

West and Clark have held their spot in the seniors which is good... yes I would have dropped Nelson but I suspect he is tagging or fulfilling some sort of important role (i guess).

Getting more games into Winder is a bonus, our WAFL side isn't going too crash hot in inside 50s either, so may as well hone his craft in the seniors.

Oh and more games in Hough as well!

Why didn't we name Culley? Maybe someone who doesn't know the supposed "game plan" might shake the tree a little.

You are never going to get up to AFL level by playing in the current Beagles. Every game we play them there is just stunting their development. Given we have to cut quite a few this year, I would have thought we'd be giving the younger guys a proper crack to see who deserves a new contract.

Hasn’t played the last three weeks and hasn’t ever played against men.

Nah, chuck him in, what could go wrong?

Simmo already said they're going to, when they're match fit in a couple of weeks.
