Do we play both Cameron/Cox to wear TDK down?

Also wonder if there is a spot for WHE. If McKay misses again, no need for Frampton?
Personally think McKay misses again by the way.

“Performance anxiety” was the talk and I think Carlton were hopeful of him returning next Thursday because they believed they would win last night to relieve the pressure on the club.

If that is the real reason for his absence, it’s a horrible idea to bring him back against your biggest rival in front of 90,000 trying to avoid a 0-4 start.

That's what I was thinking too regarding Harry. If it's anxiety related, you wouldn't think this would be the ideal game for him to return.

Maybe Gather Round against Eagles.

From the Carlton board:

“Our losses don’t look that bad (apart from the Richmond game) with what hawks are doing to GWS. What GWS did to Collingwood. And what the umpires did to the dogs.

I feel we could very well be right in this game with Collingwood.”

Using this logic, what about what we did to port after what they did to rich after what rich did to Carlton?

🧐

The one thing they have done is start well. And we're coming off a bye so we have to dig in early and now fall to far behind and give the Blues momentum or hope.

neilk was potentially on the money.
Allegedly he’s broken up with his GF and not taking it too well.
PS: You could also be right 😉

I get performance anxiety all the time

While we all rejoice in another Carlton loss, the reality was their performance against the Dogs was of a similar level to our own IMO.

They lost by 8pts to a Dogs side arguably stronger structurally than the previous week due to the inclusions of Jones and O'Donnell. We won by 6.

This will be a tough match to win, it's against a bitter rival and one desperate to avoid yet another loss.

If McKay returns, then alongside Curnow and the improving Kemp, it could cause us some concerns, with our back 6 now needing to be reworked after the elevation of Reef over the Summer

The most curious selection decision is whether we retain Cox.

The easy answer is to say a quick no because Carlton have only being going with the one genuine ruck.

That genuine ruck has been in excellent form however, is a spring heeled jack and one wonders whether we're better to try and blunt his influence by using a 2 ruck combination, while hoping for an advantage when he's resting.

Given Carlton have Cripps and they're a side that feeds on clearance, a 2 ruck combinaton should aid us in limiting the amount of clean ball they can win at stoppage.
So you’re picking us by 14?

In Pendles’ 400th, Cripps destroyed Long, especially in Q4. But last night Cripps was looking pretty battered and worn-out. So perhaps that asymmetric match-up might work this time.

Long is a far more confident player and in far better form than that game.

I must have missed Membrey’s Ruck work.
No, but as I’ve repeated endlessly, I think the upgrade our forward line gets with the MMM pillars is much more significant than the upgrade Cox provides to 25% of ruck contests over McStay.

You think a loss and a win are similar?
Sounds like a Goodwin philosophy

To all the nervous Nellie’s, are you expecting, poor outside run, poor ball movement, poor rebound off the backline, poor small forwards, and a one man midfield to all be fixed by Carlton on a 6 Day break?
Spot on. Carlton will provide a better performance on Thursday night but we are a genuinely better side and as you said, it's going to take a miracle for them to turn it around this week. I'm very confident

The club would not underestimate a wounded opponent. Carlton hasn't finished games strongly, but they've shown signs.

I hope the Pies show up switched on. If they do, they'll take the points. 3-1 looks so much better than 2-2.

* Fkng round zero BS

I would like to work over Carlton's best player TDK with both Cox and Cameron jumping hard into him. Long on Cripps. McStay to play defensively on Weitering. McCreery to lock down on Saad. Moore on Curnow and if McKay plays Frampton on McKay.

Ins: Frampton and Mihocek
Outs: McInnes and Membrey

TDK and Cripps are the threats to manage in this game.

Quieten those 2 and half the job is done.

Weitering can only take 1 of McStay or Checkers, not both. McGovern is not firing on all cylinders.

Jordy will come off a nice break with a game under his belt and N.Daicos will do what he does.

If we show up, Carlton don't have the answers.

I reckon we need to limit Weitering’s marking. I like the idea of McStay playing as a defensive forward to make him accountable.

Weitering is a monster and can't be allowed to play loose.

If the Pies win the midfield battle and move the ball well into the forward line, it will be very difficult for Carlton to stop.

The doggies beat them and while we don't have a Darcy the Pies have more options with at least 4 forwards who can mark strongly on the lead. Pies also have some kick-arse smalls with Carlton sorely lacking on that front.

If we don't underestimate them it will be a comfortable win.

Some straight goal kicking will also help.

If Carlton play one ruck, I reckon Cox gets dropped. I can't see us letting Carlton have an extra runner by playing only one ruck. We'll want an extra runner of our own.
Out Cox
In Long
So Reef stays in the side? Awesome injury hoax! Or are we giving them a handicap extra player because we think they're so s**t that we'll crush them anyway?
