Its farcical that the seconds haven't strted their season yet. Whoever came up with that idea needs an arse kicking. Discussing bringing in players who are now 4 real games behind in real match fitness is futile. Its a guessing game at who is ready for a call up.

The problem with WHE is his second half last night will earn him another 2+ weeks in the seniors in the eyes of our selection panel.

His 1st half was dismal and I was hoping that would be the end to enable a dropping and a new debutant however the 2nd half will guarantee him selection next week.
3 issues with this team.....Mayne, Thomas and WHE

Why play Greenwood nothing against him but it is his last season we are not playing finals so what is the point
We need to be competitive in the midfield. Kids like Macrae may be ready to play as flankers, but centre square is too big an ask.

I'd go with Levi, Maynard, Pendles and Crisp rotating in the centre square. Bring in Macrae and someone else for Adams and Sier.

When asked about likely depth players who are knocking down the door, Buckley named Cameron, Levi and then a couple of our draft picks who are getting some games under their belt. It was not confidence inspiring.

We need to continue with some of the structural changes.

Madgen / Mayne - I don’t like us having two defensive wings like we had for the first half. Madgen looked the better of the two a wing last night. Therefore if Mayne says he needs to be in defence.

Hoskin-Elliott - continuing on from the above, we need one attacking wing. Was more involved once pushed up the field in the second half.

Daicos played well on a wing last year and should rotate with WHE. I’d also continue and extend his time in the centre.

Crisp - looks to be our best mid currently. No point making the change once where 3-4 gaols behind, start him there please.

Quaynor - while I’d like him to play up the ground if Crisp is in the centre we need his run off half back. Play him loose though instead of on the opposition’s best small forward.

What has happened to Rantall?

He played one pre-season game against Richmond 2 years ago and looked like a great decision maker and ball user that could run all day.

Haven't heard a single thing about him since.

Has anyone seen him play in the VFL? Any obvious major flaws?

In years gone by this is a match where you’d see a response. I’m not talking a win, but an arm wrestle that we look like winning most of the way only to do a Collingwood and falter at the last hurdle (basically v WC in the 18 finals series). This time round I think the group has a response in them, but we won’t see it.

The problem is in order to get us back to playing with some intent you need to send a message and in doing so you’ll end up picking guys that will give it their best, but ultimately fall short. I’d like to see a message sent with the likes of Maynard, Sidebottom and Howe in the gun, but we all know that won’t happen so I’ll just expect Sier, IQ and Adams to be the outs...

Is quaynor injured ?

Just watched the presser.

You can see Bucks had to pull himself up a few times.

Would love to hear him say what he really thinks.
Mightn’t be far from how a lot of us are feeling.

Bit hard in this day and age with the new breed to give the old fashioned spray.

I think a lot of the major decisions to get us where we are now have been from those up the chain, particularly with salary.

Bucks was not a fan of brining in Mayne, wonder if it was the same with Beams and Grundy contract extension. We will never know I guess.

He would clearly be front and centre with coaxing panel so that sits with him to a large degree.
How we let some go and keep Sando and Harvey beggars belief.

Would love to see less Instagramming from these guys and actually busting an arse for the club as a start.
This should be led by the Captain.

Pendles needs to speak up a bit more too in my view, he is too quiet when sometimes it would be nice to see the captain come out and demand more from the playing group.

A couple of things i want to see over the next few weeks:
- Play our best players on the ball for longer, while this may shoot us in the foot in other positions we aren't competitive quick or skilful enough around the ball at the moment. DeGoey, Crisp, Daicos, Maynard and even IQ to spend more time on ball.
- Sidebottom and Pendles more time forward. Their impact around the ball hasn't been what it once was. I'd like to see Sidey given the green light to get creative around goals and spend more time at Cox's feet. Pendles provides a cooler head and some much needed leadership inside 50. Having them inside 50 more often allows us greater scope to support some kids that may come in and play there
- Blood some youth!!! We've seen it with Essendon and Sydney, and while our boys might not be top 10 picks like theirs, it would at least be a different direction and show some hope for the future. Commit to playing blokes like Kelly, McCreery, Henry, Macrae and Reef. Hell, even throw McMahon in for a while. Stop persisting with dead wood blokes and start planning for the future. Give us some life back!!!
- Swing the axe on WHE, Mayne, C.Brown, Thomas, Greenwood. These blokes are fime as depth role players, not as a core 22. Play 1 or 2 of them if absolutely needed, not all of them at once

Cameron, Rantall, Macrae, Keane, T Brown and Kelly. They're the ins.

The outs are Sier, Adams, C Brown, Thomas, Roughead and Mayne.

That's

Rantall for Adams
Macrae for C Brown
Keane for Roughead
T Brown for Sier
Cameron for Thomas
Kelly for Mayne

Alternatively play Keane and Roughead in the same side, so it's Moore on Kennedy, Roughead on Darling and Keane on Allen.
