It’s frustrating have an old coach and the new coach for a year of coaching together.

As much as I loved Clarko for his 4 premiership at the Hawks. As soon as the decision was made for Sam to take over from Al, a year with Clarko just felt like a year of potential development waisted.

At least with the new coach in it was the beginning of development and a new challenge to work on each week.

Whitlock is no where near ready and it would only be bad for his development. Georgy and Lord kick 6 between them today so thats not the problem. The gameplan is not working well because they have gone overboard with this run and gun with too many handballs.

At this stage the most obvious change is Evans who is horribly out of form.

It's always so baffling what does Port. Previous years, they would kick it down the line and bomb inside 50 and this year, they handball too much. There's no balance, it's always one extreme to the next.

Just saw the DBJ replay and I think it is at least 2. So Berry gets a reprieve this week,m

against the SAINTS - 200 game - DBJ got 1 kick & had 6 hand balls (for the game) ...
for the game DBJ had 33 meters gained for the game

he can enjoy his holiday and then his time in the SANFL

he can be replaced by Tom Cochrane who will give a lot more

Honestly, no point in those changes other than Mead. Evans and Sinn just need constant game time, even if they are out of form, especially Sinn. The season is a write off, so these 2 in particular, just need to play all year and build confidence.

Yeah, given we can't even get a decent pick from a failed season, there's nothing to be gained playing guys like Boak, Atkins, Soldo et al. They're just keeping development opportunities from others.

I understand the sentiment in playing the kids - however, I would also suggest that putting the kids on the field in this kind of toxic environment could actually be at the detriment of their long term development. The coach doesn't give two shits about what happens to the team from 2026 onwards, he's trying to win now. And you've got a team who for better or worse is capitulating. It's blowing up in front of our eyes, and the only thing that can really stop the bleeding (outside of a miraculous turn around under Ken) is to move on to Carr immediately.

I don't want to play the kids under Ken if it's going to potentially put the timeline even further back under Carr.

No point throwing more kids into the mix , it will just damage them. However rotating the kids may be the way to go , Lorentz needs to be trialled on a wing, Cochranes form deserves recall, probably looking at dropping Evans and DBJ out with suspension.
