When the current mids aren't getting the job done why not, he was drafted as midfielder and also played extremely well in defence in the SANFL when he first came over that saw him awarded the Dean Bailey Medal that season.

So you would have dropped Berry for him this week? Or Laird? Or Rachele?

Good to see Lachie Murphy retained....

Said no one…

would rather have Taylor given a go..

spending games on Murphy is a waste.. he’s not gonna be there in a couple of years..

will be overtaken by guys like Taylor, Nank, Cook and the lads we hopefully trade and draft in.

Just had a peek at their board and one poster wrote along the lines of Lachie Jones - 5 possessions last week and his direct opponent was BOG, so have another go kid (obviously they didn't drop him for this week by that comment)... Some there are not too optimistic about their chances this week

Murphy 3 clearances, Rachele 2 clearances, who spent the most time on ball?
Presumably Rachele. I loved some of the stuff Murphy did though. 4 score involvements and 2 goal assists during our fightback.

And fxxkn god only knows what Milera has done to earn his golden ticket..

He was s**t in round 1, s**t in the freo trial, s**t in the inter club trial.. was injured last week.. and just waltzes back on into the 22 for R3…
5-year Contract Extension has got to be made to look like a good decision.

Of course not but when the current mids aren't getting the job done why not give him a crack?...he's one mid that hits the contest at speed when he's on the ball.

Murphy 6 inside 50's, Rachele 4 inside 50's.

Dumb decision maker. Just a metres gained kind of player that anyone with a decent leg can play.

Smith Sloane etc are cooked, Hinge SHOULD be well past them.
I reacon Hinge has a great turn of speed, is very willing to take the game on and breaks lines… and normally always hits a target.. some of our best passes onto the chests of our leading forwards this year have come off his boot.

and he has only played 20 games..

Bicks is a Murphy fan boi. Don't be criticising his 6 possessions per game.
Look I don't like to criticise individual posters too much on here, but the same few culprits that back the club week after week only for us to continue to be a bottom 4 team surely must have some self-reflection at some stage and ask themselves whether they're faith in the clubs decisions are misguided.

By the same token, I also think there are many more that wet the bed prematurely.

Has made some dreadful errors in the first two games. Would have been in our bottom 6 both games. Hope he lifts, because he has a nice kick when he makes the right decision.

But you have to put the existing mids we have somewhere else to fit in Murphy

You can't seriously be suggesting to develop Murphy over Rachele in the midfield

I think after 5 years of failure and the bewildering selection decisions still continuing.. there’s no bed wetting about it.. it’s becoming white hot anger and a fear of just how long this current shitness is going to be allowed to continue.

You were so close to an insight, and you had to go and ruin it with that vacuous last appeal to middle ground.

Murphy has never settled in a position.

His junior years he was a good small back. Was pushed to half forward. Actually does his best work on the ball.
His junior years he was a good midfielder, Northern Knights B & F. He was a very good small defender in the SANFL when he first came over then Pyke and co decided he was a small forward, a position he'd rarely played prior.

No. I'd play him over Sloane and Schoey at the moment though.

He's already playing there a little bit. If we're rotating him in there more, someone has to rotate out and into the forward line. Like a Laird, Berry or Rachele among others
I wouldn't mind Laird rotating back to defence a bit
