No. 1 priority should be getting Luke Ryan out of the team.

No one in the AFL moves the ball slower. His ball use is a total liability and the opposition probably hope he gets 40 times a game.

I wouldn't drop him yet, but agree everyone thinks because of the high number of marks means he is doing a great job. Defensively okay but what he does after with it not so great. He kicks it to his mate cox or just bombs it high as possible aka acre style

Bro, that's literally why everyone who is backing Henry likes him so much, he's one of the only ones who doesnt bomb long to a target. In fact, he is so anti bombing long to a target he can bite off more than he should. I dont even know what game you're watching

His kicking has improved a little but his decision - making hasn't. You really truly don't want him as a part of your team transition. It reminds me of when watching Peel play a few years ago. As soon as a Peel( as opposed to Freo player) was a link in the transition, it broke down.

Speaking of, at what point do missed tackles become a major problem for Serong?

I just can’t trust him in clearances anymore and know if he’s on certain opponents he won’t stick a tackle if they get to the ball first. At times last night he was on Cunnington, LDU etc and I was cringing before the ball was bounced.

Certainly still deserves his spot in the team but we really need to expect more from him in this area. Won’t be an overnight fix.

What else are they supposed to do when they win the ball?

Happy with them waiting for **** knows what for 30 seconds and going sideways or bombing it 50m to a pack sound good does it?

Make no mistake our defence is great defensively but overall it’s not in the top 6 defences in the league currently.

Had the chance last year and sent griff there instead. Now we have no Griff and no one to take his spot in defence if cox goes forwards

If we go by 3-4 years ago he kicks it pretty well except when kicking for goal then he’s a disaster.

We're going to have to back in our core mids against theres. Darcy/Jacskon Brayshaw/Serong/Brodie/O'Meara. If O'Driscoll comes in he becomes another option to rotate at bounces with Aish, Switkowski. We may tinker a bit more by adding Erasmus or Johnson...really hanging out on what the verdict is from the Peel pre-season game where they lost a low scoring game to last season's premiers at Joondalup.

If you were the West Coast coach would you have any worries about our forward line next week? You'd back McGovern and Barrass on our tall forwards and find a match-up for Walters. Walters shouldn't be expected to be the saviour of our forward line, he's just a part of the team. JL indicated he liked the set up after Walters replaced Taberner so we're going to go with something the same as that I reckon.

Our tall forwards will have to just concentrate on making a contest and getting the ball to ground giving the smalls a chance and I think Jackson will have to lead that. Other tall either Amiss or Treacy as it seems Taberner has issues with mobility.

Valentine's comments seemed quite positive about Corbett last week, so if he's 2:3 out of 8:5 was a better follow up, he's got to be considered as a 3rd tall option. Sturt or Corbett.

I've potentially got 6 changes. I think it will be less. Just don't know who we will back, but there are options.

If NOD comes in do you think the club can/will play both Henry and NOD as wingers at the same time?

2 inexperienced non battle hardened bodies more noted for attacking then defending. Hughes pushed back well. When you're under the pump that's reassuring. I dare say Hughes was probably instructed to push back more and Henry to push forward more. For their roles can one really say that Henry played better than Hughes. I think NOD can do Henrys role better than Henry. I don't think he can do Hughes role better than Ethan. Acres did a lot of the defensive running last year.

We also don't have big bodied mids to push back.

I think we are all for attacking more but for mine that's system, connection and run off half back than anything Henry is providing.

As an aside who is the last skillful attacking indigenous player Freo have developed other than Walters?

Surely the most painful think out of the Eagles game is Hogan kicking 3:4 on top of 3 last week?? Once again he's a good fwd since leaving Freo.
