Good footy brains know to kick to open players inside 50 not just blindly pump it long to a contest

He’s also completely risk averse in the forward half and s**t scared of the goal
Every footballer in the AFL would've kicked it to a contest at some point. Henry would hit up a free player inside 50 in a higher percentage of his kicks than most.

He hasn't even played 30 games yet and trying to forge a place on the wing. Quite likely he's more inclined to take being a team player to heart and pass it off rather than take the shot.

Just don’t like the narrative that he’s this brave incisive risk taker, he may turn out okay, but he’s not the messiah

was there a reason Erasmus didn't feature in the pre-season games, was he hurt?!

what would youse all think about keeping jom forward for now? when we got rid of him in the middle we benefited hugely from the increased pace around stoppages and centre bounces. he also kicked 2 goals and took good marks down there

It’ll be like Mundy in 2017.
But don’t think he should play there when we have young natural forwards.

Does anybody think he's "the messiah"?

He's still got improving to do, but his form as a link-up player this year so far has been high quality. Many of the positive comments about him I've seen are in response to jaundiced comments writing him off based on either nothing specific, a narrative, or perhaps a cherry-picked moment here or there.

I can tell you, that the people that matter don’t think either are ready. Also will Brodie is not as much of a lock as many might think.
The balance has to be altered. The oldies of this group isn’t working then the midfield need regeneration. They won’t be ready until they play AFL. JOM and Brodie are getting owned. 16-8 centre clearances is a mauling

Be good to get Mundy around the group again, particularly the mids. He’s being sorely missed as the one player when the games on the line who gives us that composure & drive to win the close ones.

Also if your all keen, you’ll get to see David Mundy running around in a competitive game this season in the SWFL.

Keep an eye out for the press release in the next day or so.

Maybe its just because he finally grew up and isnt the baby with his issues we had who couldnt handle simple COVID instructions??
And that what upsets me about many dockers players...

They become good at previous clubs, they then come to Freo and become garbage 🗑️.

Or.... They become garbage and leave Freo then become good.

Jessw Hogan starts at the demons, becomes good. Goes to Freo, becomes crap. Leaves Freo and goes to GWS and becomes good again

Very simplistic view, Fact Melbourne sent us Hogan with a foot injury, And the Eagle bias media over did not turn a blind eye to his issues like they did in Victoria and they don't give a flying f**k in Sydney so nothing to see see here.

Not really sure the people that matter have much of a clue to be honest based on how they've approached this preseason and team selections this year.

Starting to get concerned they might be busts if this is true.
This is a bottom 6 midfield we have right now and two players taken 18 months ago in the first round still can’t get a look in?
Alarm bells if you ask me.

It’s been posted on here before, but we’ve got highly rated youngsters in the shed not playing senior footy when they really should be. Other teams who were either touted to challenge the flag prior to the season or have started the season well haven’t shyed away from giving their high draft picks a crack, so why haven’t we?

Brisbane -> Ashcroft, straight into the guts.
Carlton -> Hollands, 89% game time, Cowan.
North -> Sheezel - freak.
Saints -> Phillipou, 3 goals against the dogs, Caminiti.

We have very highly rated young players in Raz and Johnno who were drafted a year before all these guys not getting experience playing at the highest level. I’m not saying games should be gifted, but they should absolutely be tried at the highest level to notch some games under their belt, just as we did with Brayshaw, Serong, Cerra, Chappy, NoD and Young. How good was it to have unearthed O’Driscoll last year as an attacking winger? He was a revelation and not many of us would have expected it coming.

Along with Sturt - Raz and Johnno should at the very least be getting a chance to establish themselves in our team, especially with the tripe we’ve dished up these first two weeks.

The people that matter clearly don’t have a clue.

I would play both Johnson & Erasmus. Erasmus is very fierce, he will hunt the ball at all costs, a clearance beast I reckon. Johnson is our Mundy replacement. We need some new blood, will badly miss NOD ,if there is one guy that can light up the place it's him, he doesn't shy away from having a crack at the goals. I would bring in Sturt. I would leave Hughes, Banfield, Shultz out, Fyfe & now Taberner are injured. Shultz just doesn't kick enough goals and for that matter nor does Frederick but he can be electrifying. Sturt looks to be a proper forward player who needs to be given another chance.
No way you take Schultz out before Frederick
Schultzy gives his all up and down the ground

The biggest change will undoubtedly come once we work out whatever the * is going wrong in the midfield.

-12 clearances per game this year.

Fix that and everything else looks a lot better. Centre clearances especially.

Find another midfield coach because Joel Corey is clearly not up to it. Find out whatever the * is causing us to get 20 more hitouts a game for 12 less clearances.
So Why isn’t anyone saying drop Serong ?
Aish / Switta to Midfield and Drizzle on the wing

Sonny in for Frederick

Taberner stays in , usually plays well against the E-girls

Erasmus was given games last year and was pretty average TBH
Lots of turnovers

Saw a bit of his WAFL work , not mind blowing , I don’t think he’s ready , either that or he was overhyped .
Haven’t seen much of Johnson

It’s the job of our mids and HBFs to move the ball in well enough to give our forwards a chance. That isn’t happening. We’re going nowhere unless we move the ball quicker and dropping Luke Ryan goes a long way towards that. Most overrated player in Fremantle history.
Short memory
Ryan has been excellent for this club for many years and gives his all .
You are entitled to your opinion but I find that comment offensive

And unfortunately..... This actually reminds me of the Chris Connolly coaching era of 2002-7.

I remember that 2003 draft. One of those blokes that was taken was David Mundy. He wasn't slotted in for a dockers debut in 2004. He didn't debut until round 7 or round 8 of 2005.

Speaking of the 2005 season. We had the 2005 draft. I remember all 3 blokes we got in the national draft.

They were Marcus drum, Garrick Ibbotson and Rob Warnock. All 3 blokes didn't debut the next season in 2006, all 3 had debut games in 2007.
