Murphy Reid played way better than Banfield last week on every single metric - disposals, disposal efficiency, contested possessions, score involvements, goal assists, metres gained, tackles, pressure acts, etc etc despite only playing 68% game time to Banfields 79%

The 'kid' is 21 years old, has been playing senior footy in the SANFL prior to being signed by Freo, and came 3rd in Central Districts B&F last season. He's as ready as any draftee is to play.

Completely ignoring looking to improve our fwd pressure through the draft for years to the point it’s sticking out like a sore thumb when we play so we have to bring in an afterthought sup player off half a pre season and a couple of praccy’s games when the knock on him was his tank

2 losses where our fwd pressure has been virtually non existent

Yeah not desperate at all

Track watchers are alright for a bit of injury insight but as far as player quality goes they are just over invested nuffers who mostly see what they wanna see

Anyway I’m not criticising the “ bloke “ as you say I’ve never seen him play but the list management process leading to his surprise’ early debut is pretty ****ing sub optimal as the kids like to say

Everyone said he’s got talent but will need to build up his fitness base , usually that means look for the player either later in the year or even next year

Anyway here’s hoping he’s the next hidden diamond small fwd we’ve unearthed and not a DESPERATE ping at the stumps by a management team slowly coming to the realisation they’ve completely shat the bed when it comes to strategising what you need to win footy games these days

I post some of my observations as a freo fan and as someone who has played countless seasons of footy and coached in previous years. Am I a nuffie? Yeah I am so take my training reports with a pinch of salt. Do you need to bag posters out who offer some opinions while watching training? You can but IMO you don't need to, to get your point across.

I'm 100% expecting Shai to be a late withdrawal and then be in and out of the team all year never managing to get a clean run at it.

Because I've been supporting Freo for 30 years and that's just how things go around here.

A little concerning that we look like we are just going to limp Bolton along.

We did the same with Dessie in his first season with us (knee or ankle from memory) and he was never right again.

He's certainly good at kicking goals but I didn't think fwd pressure was a strength of his?

The peel coach mentioned he applied good pressure at Peel.

I think he lacks a bit of fitness, but he can apply good pressure in bursts.

I really hope he stays in when Switta comes back.
