I think Walker is going to make a big difference, like Noddy, he runs fast and he runs towards goals, not sideways. That's why we always seem to play with those guys in the team, even if Walker *s up a couple times too many.

We really just need it in there against Adelaide. Tabs looked like Plugga the half he played against them in the scratchie

I think Tabs will improve as the year goes on but I’ve given up on projecting anything from pre season form. Bailey Banfield has been known to look like Gordon Coventry in scratch matches. Hell, there’s even a thread on the main board asking if Fyfe could win the Coleman after the pre season.

Some of y'all should be ashamed the way you are speaking about Bailey. I agree Sturt should have played but its the match committee's decision, not Baileys. He gives his all every match he plays and turned down contracts from other clubs despite knowing he isn't guaranteed a b22 spot. I wonder how many of you are as selfless or loyal as he is. As long as a player wears our colour, don't abuse them behind your keyboard.

I'm a self confessed anti-fan of Banfield, but even I admit he genuinely improved last year.
He's got a shipload of limitations but he did have a handy habit of kicking some goals last year, including some pretty opportunistic ones.

Still rather sad not to see Sturt given a run.

Almost every post of the last 50 has been about the match committee or JL. Because they’re made the ridiculously predictable response of selecting Banfield to replace Freddy. It’s impossible to talk about that without mentioning Banfield but no one is criticizing him as a person just his quality as a player. We can’t talk about the selection without mentioning him as a player.

And there is much about it that is unfathomable to those of us outside the club & foremost is why another player on our list, Surt who would seem to have the closest to the skill set we’re trying to cover can’t get a look in after showing some real promise in the preseason.

Why is it a fairytale that someone we gave a 12 month contract extension to, that was given specific areas to work on & in the coaches words “has unlocked the requisite intensity”, was played in the preseason & named as an emergency in round 1 might be considered as a replacement for a position he plays in?

Why do we have to get used to the idea he will never be selected again?

Why are you so sure he’s finished at the club?

Treacy gets a chance, ala Round 1 and is so ineffectual and uninvolved that he has to wait and show some form in the WAFL before he gets another chance.

Why are you so sure he’s finished at the club?

Well he has had multiple chances with injuries and people not performing but hasn't gotten a look. Combine this with how conservative the match committee is, it doesn't look great for him. Maybe they are scared he will perform so well he will keep Fyfe out lol.

All head coaches have their favourites. I suspect what we're seeing here (at least in part) reflects a weak and inexperienced match committee that can't or won't talk the head coach around from selecting his favourites.

The problem is that there's a committee in the first place. Decisions by committee always end up safe and middling. The 'extreme' views are always outvoted.

At this point I'm at a loss for why he isn't given a shot as the next in, travelled in round 1, got some Gametime the week after at peel and now he is stuck back in the queue when he was the most like for like swap for Freddy (Colyer injured)

Similar height, similar pace, similar reliable set shot, good pressure on the deck (both not the best tacklers)

Is the deciding factor coming down to less AFL time (if it is then how the **** can he get some Gametime without a shot)

I'm reaching here but if there are any murmurs out of the club, would love to hear em
