Key word - quality. They clearly think BB is our next best after Schultz, Freddy, Walters and Switta so those not being played must be pretty ****ing useless (in their opinion). Freddy shows potential but Walters is our only A grade small forward on the list and he's 30 odd! They've ****ed it up. And why keep Sturt if he's no good?

I think Walker is going to make a big difference, like Noddy, he runs fast and he runs towards goals, not sideways. That's why we always seem to play with those guys in the team, even if Walker ****s up a couple times too many.

Basically this. Lose the midfield battle and it doesn't matter who we've got up front, Adelaide's forwards will annihilate us.

Hoping we get through this one and then we actually start to build a form line at Peel for others to mount their case. I'm over despairing about the conservative selection panel since that's evidently not changing any time soon. At least if Sturt, Erasmus, Treacy etc are consistently playing well it (might) get slightly harder to justify in: Banfield

I'm with Tony though - we really need Emmett to come good as well.

It would have to be pretty desperate. We looked toothless against a north defence without their best KPD and Freddie is a big loss with his pace.
Relying on the likes of Jaeger o meara to kick 3 or 4 to keep us in this one.
I see Adelaide kicking at least 80 points so we need to score probably 13-14 goals to win this game and I just do not trust those players to do that. We will need everything to go right.
List of potential goal scorers on a RELATIVELY good day for each player in 2023:
Switta - 1 goal
Schultz - 2 goals
Tabs - 2 goals
Amiss - 2 goals
Banfield - 1 goal
Walters - 2 goals

Maybe 1-2 more goals from the mids.

I like Walker and think he's going to be good but I'm not sharing the confidence that he's capable of shutting down Rankine. Pearce is struggling big time, the rest of the defence will do their jobs but we're going to have to dominate the midfield to win this one, not just win the midfield battle, but dominate!

I'm not sure Adelaide are kicking at least 80 points but it's going to be really interesting to see what wins out, Adelaides attack, or our defence. Adealaide already have close to 100 points more scored against them compared to us. It will be interesting to see what wins out on the averages, their attack, or our defence.

I can promise everyone this, we will kick more goals than everyone thinks, purely because it's Adelaide. They are literally averaging over 100 points against where Richmond and GWS have literally scored half their total for the year against them...

2022, 8th for total goal assists, 5th for total marks inside 50, 5th for total tackles inside 50 and 6th for total goals....
Only played 13 full games.

Seems to me that the Selection Committee are chasing a repeat of last year’s game against Brisbane where Bailey kicked four goals. Those four were part of the 18 goals he kicked from eleven games played last year.

Nah I liked the old snuff better that realised Banfield is a crab.
That isn't half of it. You have to give the opposition something to think about, make them react to you. No AFL coach is reacting to Bailey Banfield, not one. Corbett, Sturt, Treacy - you need to react to that, each brings a different challenge. A blancmange is not a challenge

This is the thing and I want to make it clear. I don't hate Banfield the person or Banfield the selfish player - I just hate the ****ing process that he's rewarded from.

Banfield has always been a professional checkbox ticker for the MC and is perennial validator to JLos' weak mindset and this gets him picked over an untried Sturt after clearly needing to be dropped the week before? Just tiring and safe predictable bullshit.
