Changes round 4 VS Sydney

Sheed was excellent in traffic in 2015. Was getting very good at ripping the ball out of congestion too.

Hasn't seemed to find his mojo since his pec injury early last year unfortunately. Still young though, hopefully he smashes another strong game out for EP this weekend.

Don't mean to intrude too much, but he's only ever had more than 10 contested possessions 6 times out of a 40 game career, it was one of the knocks on him when he played league for Subi prior to being drafted.

Was an early developer and was always a touch bigger and stronger, when pitted against blokes the same size, there was a timid streak that emerged and his lack of pace lessened his ability to find the right target.

Throughout his junior career he was unashamed kickaholic, the skill of freeing his arms when under pressure wasn't as developed as other youngsters, however his footskills in space, sublime.

He is not a natural contested player and will need to get alot better in this facet if he is to carve out a solid AFL career.

Good changes...with Duggan sometimes you have to ignore WAFL form and just bring players in based on potential/skill....Sheed has offered nothing for awhile and is a plodder, probably would have gotten 15 touches anyway..

Duggan and Nelson in the middle should be interesting. Will put their heads over the ball and tackle hard which is more than Jetta and hutch do. Hopefully we aren't overrun again.

Don't think he will be a contested beast like a priddis/fyfe and etc but more of a balanced mid like a shuey. he will someone who averages 10-12 contested possessions a game type. He is fairly young and many forget that he has only really been fully fit in of his 3 seasons and he showed a ton of promise in that year. Like Shuey, sheeds contested work should improve through more experience he gets in the middle. I also believe that Sheed is physically a bit off from being fully physically developed and might that area of his development might be held back to to the coaches wanting him to spend a bit more time on the outside.

That said sheed has had some very dominant work in congestion. His game against Adelaide in 2015 is my favourite sheed game. In that game crows jumped us hard and beat us convincingly but he pulled the game our way single handedly and his grunt work went hand in hand with his outside polish that game. Its type of game that i want to see from sheed when he returns.

Redden should be given another few weeks and if he isn't getting over 22 solid touches a game, then he needs to be pulled and sheed be given gme time. Id rather see two kids in tha position. Both Duggan and sheed are more suited at mid/hff/wing role than redden and hutch.

Guess we will see. How do you think we will set up?
I think Duggan will play Jetta's role on a wing mainly and Nelson will play mainly down back.

Though you might be right with Nelson I suppose, Butler in may see him pushed further up the ground which would be exciting.

If Sheed is a plodder we may as well put the cue in the rack after 2018.

Shuey and Gaff, with no support, wont get us near finals let alone the big dance.

Butler will release Wellingham up the ground more than Nelson I think - Wellingham to take jettas role and Duggan to play as a defensive mid replacing hutch

That's a guess though

If you're referring to the last round vs Adelaide last year, again, I would suggest he was a link in the chain, not the primary source.

It's not his forte, I'm not sure he'l ever be as balances as Shuey, he has genuine footspeed and an ability to fire out good disposal by hand. Sheed, at this point in time is quite one dimensional and that's probably why he finds himself behind Duggan.

Look I like Duggan and don't mind the selection but I wouldn't have mind seeing simmo being a bit more bold and playing mutimer. He seems to be playing well at EP and has better form than Duggan but big point of difference is that he has some speed. One thing that caught my attention on Friday was that he seemed to get a lot of clearances when do started gaining momentum in the last. For that reason I would have liked to see him in the side playing on a wing and moving on ball at times.

Nelson on the wing actually doesn't sound bad and he has enough pace to break the lines.

LoLz @ Priddis contested beast
Bulk numbers as the main measure for supposed good performance and selection is what's killing our midfield, if that's what is happening.
We need wellingham and even Yeo in there to work with Shuey. With Sheed and Duggan to support them. Mitchell is the only 'plodder' we can carry. Other mids can fight it out for the scraps.

Sheed is terrible in traffic, panics and still hasn't learnt to free his arms - as another said too similiar to others alread in the middle, he's also painfully slow.

Great footskills, but needs to play an outside role to be effective at AFL level.

It's like you've never watched Sheed at AFL level. You've actually managed to identify his best attribute and suggest it's his worst.

No I'm talking bout his 2015 game.

Shuey really didn't come in till mid 2015 as a 25 year old sheed still has time. One thing that has hurt sheed is that he doesn't get too much time in the middle. Shreds grunt work is far too superior to duggan. If Duggan does come on he would be a bit similar to a josh Kelly in the sense that he would be an outside player that finds his own ball. Rumour here is that sheed defensive game needs work and Simmo's not happy bout it.

WTF asked you?

I think you're seeing what you want to see, if he was freeing his arms and firing off handballs that hit targets, surely he'd be getting higher contested possession numbers.

But he doesn't, and he can't, because it is a skill he didn't require at Junior levels.

Ugh, get Sheed in there ffs. Don't mind Duggo coming in but would prefer both of them to play. Perhaps, Nelson will play more in midfield now that Butler has come back in.
I'm tipping Sheed will play either replacing Darling or another sore player.

If any game you were thinking of getting McGovern to play forward and pinch hit in the ruck its this week. Gov v Sinclair and Reid.

Maybe Darling and one of the rucks out with Sheed and Schofield in. Gov goes forward.

I knew Sheed wasn't going to be picked. If you listen to Simpsons weekly chat he does on 6pr, when Sheed's good game was brought up, Simpsons straight away started talking about how its about defensive structures as well as getting the ball. It sounds like Sheed is not up to standard defensively at the moment.
And Jetta and Masten are?
