Out: Sylvia, Rivers, Wonaeamirri, ???
In: Trengove, Scully, Bate, Mckenzie.

I think Sylvia may need a spell in the seconds. If not this week, after another poor performance I think he should be dropped. Might wake him up. Just isn't performing as of late.

Re: Changes v Blues.

I thought Sylvia did alright against Port, and while he didn't get a lot of the ball against the Cats he did some nice things. Better than the weeks before that, but still not what we need from him.

That said, I don't think it would be a good idea to drop him coming into two very important matches.

Ideally I'd hope that Bate could come in for Miller, but I think Miller still probably has another week in him. Failing this I think we could probably shed another tall defender for the week in Garland or Joel

Rivers and Wonna I'd agree with, and as much as it pains me to say it I don't think McKenzie will be an automatic in.

In: Bate, Scully, Trengove
Out: Rivers, Wonna, Garland/MacDonald

Re: Changes v Blues.

How can we lose 2 defenders and bring in none? Are we also certain that Bate will be alright? Cheney must be close.

Carlton don't have a particularly tall forward line, perhaps Bruce could double back for the majority of the game and allow us to bring in another runner, in Mckenzie.

Re: Changes v Blues.

Sylvia?

He was good against Port and good again yesterday against the Cats, cannot drop him.

In: Scully, Trengove, Bate
Out: Rivers, Macdonald, Miller

- IMO can't have Bate and Miller in the same team and I'd take Bate every time.

- Rivers hasn't been good and has no match-up in that Carlton forward line.

- Tough on Macdonald but if it means getting Scully/Trengove in then sorry Joel.

I agree with you there, Sylvia has the ability to turn it on and absolutely own the game. Let's hope it happens in the coming weeks against quality oppisiton in Collingwood and (not so much) Carlton.

The delema with Sylvia is that he is playing well, but noo way near as good as we have seen and know that he can play.

I would drop Garland before Joel Mac, wouldn't want to risk any further knee injury on top of an allready fragile foot.

Bate said as much at half-time, was close for the Cats game but was given the extra week just to be sure of it.

Re: Changes v Blues.

What about Bail.

I'm good mates with a Melbourne supporter and thought he was a terrific forward tag who tackles well and has a hardened body.

Has he been performing in the reserves?

He was very good in the games he played this year but unfortunately got injured and only returned to Casey today only to apparently get injured again.

Very disappointing because he looked very comfortable at AFL level in his couple of games this year.

Re: Changes v Blues.

I think our current team has 1 too many defenders in it already, since we brought in Warnock last week and didn't take out any defenders (after bringing in Joel the week before)

Therefore, we'd be going from 1 too many to 1 too few, which I think could work out given the small foward setup of Carlton, which Rivers and Garland probably wouldn't be well suited to anyway.

Re: Changes v Blues.

In: Scully, trengove, bate
out: Rivers(should have happened a year ago), garland(knee), wonaeamirri(get him on the biggest loser immediately)

Re: Changes v Blues.

We're going to need an extra small down back IMO.

In: Scully, Trengove, Bate, Cheney
Out: Garland, Rivers, Wonaeamirri, Morton

Purely a match-up issue re. Morton.

Some key points for selection this week;

Depending on Yarran's fitness, does Bennell go to a back pocket this week to match up one of Betts, Garlett or Yarran.
That would allow Aussie and Jetta to stay upforward.
We seemed really short up forward on Saturday, bate will be back. But is having Watts, Bate, Miller and Green one to many "big guys" up forward?
Scully and Trengove back in.

Selection will depend how small we need to play down back;

B: Bartram Warnock Garland (fitness pending)
HB: Grimes Frawley Bruce
C: Trengove Moloney Morton
HF:Sylvia Miller Bate
FF: Bennell Watts Green
R: Jamar J.McDonald Davey
Int: Scully Jones Jetta Gysberts

IN: Trengove, Scully Bate
Out: Wonna, Rivers, Macdonald

Macdonald for Garland if he doesnt come up, Miller could also be dropped and leave Aussie in the side. Tough week at selection, Mckenzie very unlucky, hard to get him in the side with Gysberts playing a similar role in the side.

Yes i know i've left two defenders out and brought none in, but we are overloaded in defence especially with blokes who can play tall.

Re: Changes v Blues.

They should drop either MacDonald or Bruce before Morton and I'd prefer Strauss than Cheney.

Yeah, Bruce out before MacDonald or Morton. I sort of thought, when we drafted MacDonald that he was a logical replacement for Bruce, and would rather see Bruce in and out of the side than MacDonald if Mac is going to be with us over the coming years.

And I don't think bringing in either Strauss or Cheney is right. Bennel to BP in place of a tall defender (Rivers/Garland) and Morton to HBF if Bruce were to get dropped.

Re: Changes v Blues.

4 Changes for my suggestion.

In: Scully, Trengove, Bate and McKenzie
Need as many midfield rotation support as possible to combat the Blue's pace.

Out:

1. Garland (Don't want to risk the injury and prefer to drop him for rest)
2. Rivers (Blue's don't have talls FF and Rivers look slow and don't think can match the Blues pace like Betts, Yarran and Garlett)
3. Wonaeamirri (Does not look as sharp as he was in 2007. Need more time in the second's)
4. Jetta (Tough one but didn't have much impact. 12 disposals and only 58% effective)

Miller will be just favour of Jetta at the moment and see if he can do something to kick more goals - similar to Port. I would give him one more chance and Blues don't have tall defenders and hopefully can stretch them abit.

J Macdonald as a back up defender from the bench and push Grimes further in the midfield to attack if required.

B: Bartram Warnock Bruce
HB: McKenzie Frawley Grimes
C: Scully Moloney Morton
HF: Sylvia Miller Bate
F: Bennell Watts Green
Ruck: Jamar McDonald Davey
Inter: Jones Trengove Gysberts J Macdonald
Emer: Wonaeamerri Martin Jetta

Out: Garland, Bartram, Rivers.

In: Scully, Trengove, Bate.

Jetta, Wonna and Bennell all need to lift their game also.
I thought Bennell was poor against the cats, so were Neville and Austin, but they consistently tried their best to apply defensive pressure. Bennell usually has great defensive pressure also, however i just thought he was just lacking against the cats.

I think someone will probly come in for either Jetta or Wonna.
Could be McKenzie or maybe even Dunn or Hughes.

Tough week for selection this week, as many players were down on form and no one in the reserves really stepped up and demanded a spot this week.

In - Bate, Trengove and Scully
Out - Garland, MacDonald and Wona

Miller given another week to prove his 5 goals against Port wasn't a fluke and Jones skating on thin ice as well. If Jones plays poorly against the Blues and MacKenzie plays well in reserves next week, then a straight swap for these two for Queens Birthday match.

Bate comes in as we need someone capable of kicking multiple goals, while Trengove and Scully are automatic selections.

Garland looks likely to succumb to injury(and form hasn't been great), Macdonald is unlucky, but i feel Bailey will keep Rivers ahead of him, and Wona doesn't look fit. He needs some time on the track and out of KFC. Where has his pace and pressure gone? Back to Casey to find some form.

Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer, Watts and Scully.

Five number 1 picks ranging from 2005 to 2009, quite funny they are all playing in the one game.

Walker and Trengove the two number 2 picks.

Judd and Sylvia the two number 3 picks.

Morton a number 4 overall pick.

McLean a number 5 overall pick.

Yarran number 6 overall.

Gysberts number 11 overall.

Lucas, Jones and Frawley all 12th overall picks.

Grimes 14th overall pick.

There are more high picks there, does highlight just how shit both Carlton and Melbourne have been in the recent past.

Thank f*** it's over though.
