Rivers played one his best games of the year vs the Dogs, he isn't missing out, no change, Hunt to MS is a good call tho
Would be crazy to drop Rivers after he’s played every game this year, he also was good in the second half of the Q final.
My only concern is whether him and Bowey have the experience to break lines and hit targets under this much pressure, but you won’t find two kids with better temperaments so my instinct is to not overthink it.

I think we’ll play well but they’ve been here and we haven’t which worries me. Plus they’re a completely different team with Stef Martin. fu** Neeld.
Stef is pretty cooked though. Agree he's a big in but Gawn/Jackson should cover he and English pretty comfortably.

I agree with the gist of your post but Gawn and Jackson are a completely different combo to Lycett and Ladhams. I love Stef and he could pull out a heroic performance but he looked pretty cooked by the second quarter, it didn’t matter because they’d already destroyed Port by then - if the same thing happens in the Granny but the scoreboard is tighter, we could have a huge advantage.

The "they've been there and we haven't" thing people say I find one of the most overrated reasons ever. So many dogs players making their grand final debut this week too.

Also, how did prelim experience go for Geelong and Port this weekend?

Yeah, Carey more or less said in his experience, once the ball is bounced it’s just another game.

Ok, now I don't subscribe to the theory that your bottom 6 players are your most important but for the granny I might.

I just went through this with my dad. We don't have a clear bottom 6 players. I can say Hibberd, Bowey, Brayshaw, Sparrow and maybe SGTR. That's 5 and all of them have been playing damn good football.

The dogs don't just have a bottom 6, they have a bottom 8-10.
Vandermeer, R. Smith, Cordy, Gardner, Duryea, Johannisen, Martin, Schache, Wood. Probably a couple more that escape me now.

I think that's the difference, they have passengers, I don't think we do. They need all their gun mids to fire at once and I don't think they will against our mids, mainly because Gawn and Jackson are such a massive advantage.

Your bottom 6 aren't important mate. If Oliver Lever and Gawn have stinkers we ain't winning off the back of Hibberd Sparrow and Jackson
Yeah, I don't think so but Geez it's a pretty big gap between our worst and their worst

The centre square battle is just going to be so decisive. Would love to see Max trying to go the big punch and the grab out of the ruck whenever he feels he can.

While it’s a big strength for us when we can get our hands first on the ball, they are bloody good if it’s a scrap at flicking it out and getting it to the outside.

Interesting to see if Harmes gets a job. If he does Viney or Trac will have to start outside the square, so I tend to think he won’t to start the game.

I tell you what, Stef did look pretty rubbish last night and gave away a mountain of frees. Better than anything the Dogs have otherwise but he wasn’t great.

I want Harmes glued to Libba - worked mid year

Yep. Harmes to Libba. Langdon on the Bailey Smith wing and force him to be accountable the other way.

Yeah maybe, but it also proves the bottom 8 are generally interchangeable.

Blokes like Spargo and AnB becoming good role players has helped, but having 5 AAs helps alot more.

Dont panic. The GF is two weeks off. You'll go nuts . MFC coaching staff know exactly what theyre doing. They'll pick the best team for the big dance.
Cant wait for Chris Scotts 'exclusive ' post GF day. Apparently many Geelong players fell seriously ill just before game day and endured the impossible task of playing even half a game. How else could Melbourne belt Geelong by 83 points.... right?
Scott and Selwood are pathetic human beings.
The media love them.....of course.
.

Jordan was huge in the 4th quarter, 7 disposals, 3 marks and 2 tackles.
But have to agree Hunt could be very valuable, the ability to play him back or forward would be handy.

"huge" .. :tearsofjoy: ... game completely dead, reckon I could have got 3 kicks out there.:tearsofjoy:

Sorry mate he was very good, is that better? Who cares if the game was over he had an opportunity to get more midfield time with Trac and Oliver being rested and was very good in the limited time he had on the ground.
And laid more tackles in that time than half of our team.

Stat lines in a carnival atmosphere where one team had given up by that point wont ever really impress me, I see your point but not placing much weight in numbers, that's all.

I just like the fact the kid made the most of his chances when it was given to him.
