At least they've ditched the stupid overhead camera shots from last week but it's still pretty poor and hard to see what's going on half the time.

They zoom in when they should pull back and vice versa.

You can't complain about the ads every goal, it's just the way it is, they need to make money from their investment.

But the no HD thing is a joke.

Also must admit I haven't noticed their coverage as being too bad today. No lingering shots of insignificant shit in the crowd, the shots of the coaches hasn't been ad-nausea, and we haven't missed too much play with those things plus irrelevant replays.

There are genuine gripes about their coverage this year, but I think the OP comes under the cloud of complaining 'just because', which can discredit the legitimate concerns.

ACDC would be great but they would cost a fortune and I don't think a band of their status would be prepared to play a few songs at a GF. It's not like they need the exposure or promote themselves for a tour when they are one of the biggest bands on the planet.

I am another person who watched Fox Footy in HD all year and was shocked that I couldn't do so for the Grand Final.

Does anyone think that they might have shot the Grand Final in HD but chose not to use it on T.V. for financial reasons? It will be interesting if the picture quality of the DVD / Blu Ray (or even the Foxtel replay) is a lot better than what it was today.

Anyway, it was obviously a financial thing - they must believe that they will maximise their add revenue by making sure everyone has to watch it on the one channel. It is obvious why they wouldn't want Foxtel to show it pretty much add-free, but it is far less clear why they couldn't have it on the Channel 7 HD channel at the same time as on the normal channel. (Obviously it costs more to shoot in HD, but surely the AFL could cover some of that via the DVD sales.)

Surely the AFL should be looking at mandating HD coverage of all future Grand Finals. In this day and age it is just a joke that we have to put up with sub-standard quality for the most important game of footy of the year.

Was watching ESPN HD in the UK, they had what look liked upscaled SD - not true HD - I don't think they were even feeding it in HD to those who could show it. Hoping the Blu-ray will be true HD...

I know. Would be so much better. But 7 have a contract til 2016. And by then they won't have the same team as last year. Was all jet commentators. Especially Quartermain. I miss his commentry

I particularly liked in the post game wrap up when they were playing Clarkson's press conference and just at the moment he was discussing 'There's bigger things than footy ie death of loved one, Mcveigh losing a child' Channel 7 decided to bring in the audio from the swans room and overlay it over Clarkson talking. Obviously there was much joy in the Swans room and thus it basically sounded like Clarkson saying something relatively poignant whilst a crowd mocked him. Follow up 2 minutes later and Brian Taylor is talking and the whole time we hear a woman's voice in the background going CAMERA 10, CAMERA 7, CAMERA 2.

Stay Classy channel 7 and go **** yourself.

Fox Footy is worth the cost of a Foxtel subscription alone. They really did an AMAZING job with the coverage, the shows, the talent and the lighter side of things. They are so far ahead of what you free to air people watch. MACLURE!!
