we might forget how good waite was when he was on - they couldn't man him, beautiful mark (pack specialist) loved to lead, improved his kicking off the charts to be lethal inside 50, catlike reactions like charlie and pretty good on the ground - he had more going for him than working against him although some of his flaws were self inflicted............

A truly amazing and versatile football player. Great up forward, but I preferred him in defence. He played the intercepting/3rd tall role around 08/09 to great effect alongside Jamo and Setanta.

I would love this to happen for the comeback story, for Curnow himself, for the history (there hasn’t been two different consecutive medalists at the same club in over 100 years)… but being super realistic about it I think Cameron is going to come home with a wet sail.

He’s got the Bulldogs, Saints and West Coast at GMHBA to come and if there’s any sniff he could get the lead/medal in R23 then Geelong will make it happen…

All that said COME ON KING CHARLES
Many times these forwards have opposition like that, but end up only kicking 1 or 2, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

And now for something completely different...

I was watching highlights of the 2013 EF from another thread and I saw footage of Waite.

It reminded me that he was so unique. He was a key forward, but wasn't particularly tall for CHF. He had a huge leap, but was equally at home on the ground. He was a great grab, but also agile and opportunistic.

The more I thought of Waite, the more it reminded me of Charlie. I think Charlie is the more gifted player, but they share so many characteristics.

It's a shame Waite didn't have a clearer run with injury and we couldn't make every year a contract year. Otherwise we might have seen something like the consistent awesomeness we are seeing with Charlie.

Good comparison. Both gifted athletically.
Reckon Waite perhaps had slightly better timing in his marking...he was a freakish aerialist however Charlie has a huge tank which allows him to remain consistent and a constant threat the whole game which Waite wasn't.

Always felt we only saw patches of what Waite could really do and never saw it for a prolonged period. It's been the same with Charlie since he started. Lets hope like hell he can remain relatively injury free for the next five years.

A bag against the Crows this week would be magnifico.

Charlie has far better body work. Son of Vin, more a leaper and leader. I dont think SOV would have survived with the sort of attention charlie has been given

Well SOV would belt his opponent after such attention for one thing.

That said, Waite was my favourite player for a number of years. Truly unique player, frustrating sometimes, but his best quite ridiculous.

Waite was not a great field kick. But when he was on he was remarkable.

Charlie though is a freak.

Feels like he has missed a lot of footy, however after watching JK kick his 700th goal for Eagles, I compared his career out of interest.

Was surprised to learn JK had scored 167 goals after 7 seasons, which is thereabouts with Charlie and Harry.

Certainly best yet to come so hopefully they can stay on the field.

Correct - he reached his next level when he hit around 24 and held that level for approx 6-7 years. And we have 2 of them.. :):):)

Is it just me or does Charlie and his enthusiasm bring a lot of positive energy and chemistry to the team on field , Teague was pretty unlucky in that he never really had Charlie (or Doc) for much of his coaching stint here.

He just would seem like the most fun player to be teammates with, bit of real fun extrovert of a character, whom is the type we have been missing for while (well in my opinion)

Jeremy Cameron has injured his hamstring. Barring something quite remarkable, Charlie has this wrapped up.
