Probably the best game by Big Dix for the club.

Only 2 that would compete with this one is the microwave game in Ballarat against the Bulldogs in 2018 in freezing wet conditions and he kicked 5 and took 5 or 6 contested marks and 12 months earlier, same ground, same opponent, cold and damp conditions, he kicked 4 and helped knock the reigning premiers out of the finals.

His game against West Coast in the final gets forgotten but it had to be seen to be believed. He kicked 3.6 - if he kicks 4.5 and we win the game, it goes down as the single greatest performance in an AFL final by a Port player, with daylight 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

2017 elimination final for mine, I wish he kicked straight but it was a pretty elite performance otherwise.

Yeah not kicking straight when he could have won the game for us hurts him when I reach inside the memory banks.

Unfortunately he was forced to do a lot of work a long way from the goal square that night. It was a brilliant game with a but .....

Not kicking straight is not good football instead of winning the game he lost it.
He seems to having his timing right to go with the fitness must of gone to spec savers.

Great article on Charlie!

Rebuilding Charlie Dixon: How a kiss signalled he was back and a US pre-season trip confirmed it after a horrific ankle injury

It was a kiss, rather than a pack mark or a 50m goal, that first told Port Adelaide’s fitness boss Ian McKeown that Charlie Dixon was on the way back.
“Do you remember the (SANFL) Magpies game when he blew the kiss at the Redlegs fans at Alberton?,” McKeown said.
“That was a very good moment for everybody, I was there watching his every move, I can’t help myself, but you saw he had confidence in himself and in his body and you knew he’d come a long way just to get to there.”

That was in June 2019, but the moment McKeown knew Dixon was officially back was five months later when the key forward reported for day one of pre-season training in November. “That was awe-inspiring to be honest, the shape he was in, the way he was back to his brutal best with everything that he does, that was a big moment because you could go ‘s***, we’ve got Charlie back’,” McKeown said.

Interesting comment from Charlie's manager:
“I’ve never met Travis Boak and I feel like I love him,” Dixon’s manager, Peter Blucher, said. “He’s just been a really good mate and gone on the journey with him (Dixon), and I know Charlie loves him. Charlie loves the playing group, he’s very, very close with them, and it’s all been part of a shared motivation to get himself going. They’re part of his family; it sounds corny but it’s not, it’s what drives him. Kenny (Hinkley) has been very good to him as well, they are very close and Kenny’s the reason he’s in Adelaide. He’s had good people around him and just worked his bum off.”

Blucher is Ken's manager. Worked at Courier Mail for more than a decade as chief football writer then worked at Brisbane Lions during their dominate years and after that got into sports management.

Wow, what a fantastic read.
It would be worth a Tiser subscription just for this article.
Massive kudos to Charlie, the club, McKeown, Boak, Chad Cornes and the closeness of the team for what Charlie has achieved in his recovery.

Yep, brought a MASSIVE massive tear.
You deserve the best, King Charles.

Also good on you Pepp and Ollie for ypur portion control 😂

THIS is what team BUY IN is, fellas, THIS.

Not his fault for a rough night at the office yesterday. Our midfield wasn't aggressive enough to win the centre clearances, so our forward 50 entries were all from half-back stoppages. It allowed Brisbane to lock up our forward really well, and none of our tall guys got a sniff. Hope he can get some more 6 pointers next week.

Played on a guy that was happy to sit off him before running in the last minute to get fist in, had no interest in actually beating Dixon in a contest, just making sure he didn't win. Good smart defending. The way around is for hard leading patterns and getting separation but there was a lot of sitting under the footy/it being kicked on his head last night. That or smart body work, deft little bumps at the last minute to knock the defender out, which has never been his thing. He's always preferred to wrestle.

Only major concern I had was missing an easy shot.

Also the most blatant ruck shepherd free kick being missed.
