Re: R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

I admit, this is hitting home hard, as a similar situation has happened inside my extended family, quite a number of years ago. I suppose from an external point of view, you may be able to jump the gun and say hes guilty.

Ive been recently made aware exactly what the accused in our situation went through, She was accused just like this, before anything was released, and it killed her

No one deserves that, Dead or Alive!
From FoxNews in America: Official: Wrestler Strangled Wife, Smothered Son, Hanged Self.

Professional wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his 7-year-old son before hanging himself in his weight room, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Police have scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference on the case.

So in about 35 minutes from now there will be an official Press conference.

Another Update

Wrestlezone.com
The AP reported that law enforcement officials close to the investigation have confirmed the current belief that Chris Benoit strangled wife Nancy with an electrical chord on Saturday, smothered his son with a bag on Sunday and then hung himself in his basement/weight room on Monday.

As bad as it looks, Deja Vu is my primary thought at the moment
Taken about as much as i can for a day, Im Gone!

HIGHLIGHTS OF PRESS CONFERENCE ON BENOIT TRAGEDY
By: Bob Ryder
6/26/2007 3:34:24 PM
Authorities conducted a press conference this afternoon regarding the deaths of Chris, Nancy, and Daniel Benoit. Here are highlights from the press conference:
Authorities have ruled the deaths were a result of a murder suicide.
No suicide note was found
Test results indicate that Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy "sometime on Friday" and his son Daniel "sometime on Saturday". Test results show that Chris Benoit killed himself sometime "later on Saturday".
A bible was found placed next to the bodies of Nancy and Daniel.
Nancy was found in a family room upstairs. Daniel was found in his bed.
Chris was found hanging in the weight room in the basement.
Authorities found "a lot" of prescription drugs at the scene, including anabolic steroids.
Authorities are aware of only one prior arrest for Chris Benoit, for DUI.
Scott Ballard, the District Attorney handling the case, said he termed the killings "bizarre" because of the timing of the deaths and that he remained in the house for some period of time after killing Nancy and Daniel.
Ballard said, "I'm baffled why anybody would kill a 7 year old baby.
Nancy was bound on her feet and wrists and wrapped in a towel.
Text messages received by friends were received several hours after they were sent, perhaps explaining reports that messages were sent during the day on Sunday.

WARNING SIGNS THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH CHRIS BENOIT
By: Bob Ryder
6/26/2007 5:08:55 PM
In speaking with close friends and confidants of Chris Benoit contacted this afternoon, apparently there were some warning signs that something was wrong with Benoit. Some of the information learned by 1Wrestling.com by colleagues and friends that did not want to be quoted:
"This wasn't roid rage, this was insanity. Roid rage doesn't last for 48 hours. There were signs that something was wrong. Stories have emerged that a year ago he became paranoid and believed he was being followed. He wouldn't let Nancy leave the house because he believed someone was out to get them."
“Chris hated religion. He didn't believe in it. I cannot comprehend him putting bibles by the bodies. I am shocked.”
In addition, 1Wrestling has learned that sources close to Nancy are reporting that she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages and that authorities should check the box if anything ever happened to her.
This has left me a bit numb. Chris Benoit was one of the wrestlers I truly respected, until now. This is just too sad. I cannot even find the words to express myself properly.

RIP Nancy and Daniel Benoit.
Condolences for the family and friends of the Benoits.
May God have mercy on Chris' soul.

Re: R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

May Chris Benoit never Rest In Piece and may he burn in hell for murdering a 7 year old boy, his mum and leaving their 2 other children parentless.

WHAT A ****ING SHITHEAD!

Re: R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that World Wrestling Entertainment will not distribute their three hour Chris Benoit tribute show that aired last night on the USA Network to their international affiliates for airing.

The Score in Canada will also not air the program in its regularly scheduled RAW replay slots.

Rick Scaia has updated his page on Online Onslaught. The last bit was particularly bizarre, but it isn't being relayed as being confirmed by Rick, so take it with a large pinch of salt:

Re: R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

The statement published on www.wwe.com (interesting to note that everything else regarding Chris Benoit was removed - there are no tributes, picture memorials etc)

WWE® Shocked At Latest Developments In Benoit Tragedy, Concerned By Sensationalistic Reporting
Written: June 26, 2007STAMFORD, Conn., June 26, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment is stunned and saddened by the details released by local authorities concerning the double homicide-suicide involving Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son, Daniel.

However, WWE is concerned with the sensationalistic reporting and speculation being undertaken by some members of the media following the press conference held by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney. During the press conference, the investigating authorities made the following points, all of which run contrary to the media speculation that "roid rage" was a factor in the senseless murders and suicide:

1. The authorities stated that all drugs found in the house were believed to be legal prescriptions.

2. Steroids were not, and could not, be related to the cause of death (asphyxiation). Authorities had no factual basis to speculate as to Benoit’s state of mind, and rightly did not do so.

3. Toxicology tests have not even been completed, so there is no current evidence that Benoit even had steroids or any other substance in his body. In that regard, on the last test done on Benoit by WWE's independently administered drug testing program, done on April 10, 2007, Benoit tested negative.

4. The physical findings announced by authorities indicate deliberation, not rage. The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death. By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage. The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage.

5. WWE strongly suggests that it is entirely wrong for speculators to suggest that steroids had anything to do with these senseless acts, especially when the authorities plainly stated there is no evidence that Benoit had steroids in his body, pending the toxicological reports, and that they had no evidence at this time as to the motive for these acts.

WWE is continuing to monitor the ongoing investigation being conducted by local authorities.

I can't say I actually disagree with them to a certain level. It's not a secret that WWE has a drug problem, but Roid Rage doesn't seem like it would cover it, maybe a paranoid side effect from repeated drug taking could be a reason in a case like this, but roid rage itself doesn't seem to account for a 48 hour incident and the deliberate acts that were committed.

Re: R.I.P. Chris Benoit 1967-2007

I'm thinking that the roids play a significant role in this regardless of what has been officially reported. I mean sure over a 48 hour period the rage would be impossible to sustain, but initially in the case of strangling his wife it may have been the cause for him to snap like that. Then as he came down from the rage grief guilt and paranoia kicked in (paranoia another side effect from roid usage) as for his son....man i don't know.:(

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will apologize for the three-hour USA Network tribute to pro wrestler Chris Benoit that aired Monday night, sources said.

The WWE and USA Network have received complaints about the tribute, which was hastily produced after Mr. Benoit, his wife and their son were found dead in their Georgia home Monday afternoon.

Authorities said Tuesday that Mr. Benoit strangled his wife and suffocated his son, then took his own life. But WWE and network officials were unaware of the circumstances of Mr. Benoit’s death when the tribute was assembled, sources said.

The WWE canceled its regularly scheduled “Monday Night RAW” event on USA Network Monday night and aired the tribute in its place.

Mr. McMahon will address wrestling fans tonight on Sci Fi Channel’s live Extreme Championship Wrestling event. He also plans to address speculation that Mr. Benoit’s actions were the result of steroid use.

The WWE plans to resume its regular wrestling telecasts, which air on USA Network, Sci Fi Channel and the CW.

I actually feel sorry for Vince here. Yes in hindsight it's turned out that Benoit is a murderer (god that freaks me out to write) but at the time of RAW noone knew. There was still speculation of a tragic accident etc. He shouldn't have to apologise for doing a tribute, if he hadn't imagine how cold he would have been considered.

I think people complaining are being exceptionally unfair.

The tribute was aired on the west coast of the USA at the time reports were being released that the matter was investigated as a double murder/homicide.

Still, it's harsh to accuse Vince of any wrongdoing here, especially since Vince has made it clear that the international affiliates won't receive the tribute.

I don't think Vince or WWE should take heat for the tribute on Raw.

The facts were not known at the time and WWE would've taken heat if they didn't do a tribute & it turned out that Benoit was innocent.

They were damned if they did and damned if they didn't given what they knew at the time.

Apologies if i offended anyone yesterday...

Chris Benoit - Thanks for the memories - a great in ring performer, and thats all im going to cmment on

Rest In Peace Nancy & Daniel - Thoughts are with everyone close, no matter who of the three they are associated with, Stay Strong, its going to be a bumpy ride
